Pre-reg allows the race organizers to more accurately plan the event - not only for number of tables, chairs, prizes, etc, but to also plan the financial aspects of the race. If they know the number of people attending they can have a budget worked out and spread that across all the pre-regs and get the cost per racer lower. Otherwise it most likely makes it more expensive for everyone when people do not pre-register.

So in light of that, sign me up:
