Hello,

As we are a week away from the 10th Running of the IIC, we are at a time that we have not seen in many years. As of now, we are at 400 entries preregistered. It has been a long time since this has happened and it is wonderful to have so many of you that want to race with us and share in all that is special about the IIC.

But as this is a great thing to have this many preregistered racers, it does pose a big problem for us as organizers. Bigger is not always Better. It may be a cliche, but it is true. We want the IIC to be the biggest and best it can be, but having a race with 500 entries will not be good for anyone. You cannot run a timely event in the conditions we have if we have to many entries.

Each year at the IIC we have so many racers who decide to add another class during registration, this is normally not a problem and in the end we have around 400 entries. We are in a situation now, that we cannot afford to have 50-100 additional entries on registration day or we will have too many heats and that does not make for a fun event for the racers. So we have had to close down the registration and give the remaining spots we have open to those drivers who have only entered into 1 class so far. That does not mean those who only have entered in 1 class are guaranteed a spot for the additional class. Once our heats are full, then we will close registration. I know this is not a truly fair process, but it is the best way to ensure the IIC remains true to its ideas of running the best and timely event we can. Many of us remember the 2007 IIC that we started at 630am and ran till 1130 at night. That was no fun for anyone.

We hope everyone can understand our goal and are working to give everyone the best experience we can.

I have no regrets with this decision. Registration has been open for months and being late to register is no excuse. See everyone in Vegas! It will be my second big race and second time ever racing on carpet

You heard it here first folks, next year dual tracks running in parallel to accomodate the explosive growth of the event!!

Sounds great, really is amazing effort planning and organizing this event. Perfectly reasonable to limit the entries to prevent chaos and volunteer burnout. Also support the motor inspection program, it can be really tough to process all those motors during registration and it takes time but in the end it makes for a better racing experience for everyone. I won't be in the top 20 but I like knowing that if someone is beating me it is because they out prepared or out drove me, not cause they snuck something past the rules

One suggestion, I know a bunch of racers are running the Amateur 17.5 hand-out motor in the general 17.5 class as well. Having those motors pre-inspected and sealed might save a chunk of time. Just in case you guys have any free time at all this week.

All of the Amateur class motors will be pre checked and sealed before the IIC even get them. Then they will number them and hand them out at registration. I go through all the handout motors to ensure they are all equal and 100% ready to go so that the Amateur guys can concentrate on wrenching and track time. I did this last year as well and it worked fantastic for the guys.

Hello,
I am looking forward to coming out to race this year. I have been to the last 2 and had a great time.
It has been a while since I have flown with my rc gear. I have cars, radio, lipo batteries, power supply, and 1 charger in my carry on bag.
The rest is in my checked bag. I am flying Southwest. I know motor cleaner and traction compound in the checked bag is a no-no. Am I allowed to put my tube lube and a couple of bottles of shock oil in a plastic bag and put them in my checked suitcase?

Question about approved motors. Is it only motors listed on the IIC site? Or as long as the motor is ROAR approved?

You should be fine with tube lube and shock oil in a sealed plastic bag in your checked case. I've done just that from UK to Florida with no issues, before internal US flight to Vegas for the IIC.

Motor cleaner I don't pack and buy at the track.

Traction compound is handout, so you will get a bottle there. I'll avoid packing that after a bottle leaked in my checked back last year...

Would recommend carrying any batteries in LiPo sacks.

Aside form that you'll be fine. My racing gear was all checked in again, and worked just fine.

There are many motors that are ROAR approved but not on the IIC approved list. To be on the safe side you should make sure your motor(s) are on the IIC list.

Has anybody ever mailed a box with tools and tires to the Riviera Hotel? What was your experience with it?

Just dropped my big trunk off at the UPS store like I have done several times for this race. Never an issue at the hotel. Just be aware the hotel will charge a handling fee.
