Don't go crazy yet...Should have LRP 5900s soon. Then everyone has to step up again.

Depends what motor you will be running. The 40c Thunderpowers are badassed in 17.5. I've tested back to back 40c vs the 50c and I prefer the 40c. It provides more punch with the same top end in 17.5, at least.

I also tried a 40c SMC and the Thunderpower (which was over a year and a half old) totally outclassed it.

50c is best used in high draw situations (mod). Because the higher winds don't draw as much amperage, the potential of a 50c can never be realized whereas the 40c works much better.

Depends on the rest of your equipment. If you're running a 10.5 on the Tekin, or a Modified class then I would go with the 50c packs. If not, just go with the 40c's for the reasons that Dane already listed.

50c@5000mAh = approx 250A. Isnt that getting into specs that can never be realised in RC ??
Even to gain the claimed discharge rate of 40C would require some really hefty wiring- which is why Hyperion state NEVER to attempt to use/discharge at its rated C.

So why is 50C,40C needed ???

I think it's more about the pack staying at higher voltage longer.

i read that the C is not that important because we are not constantly holding the same throttle rate, the BURST rating is more important for peak power. Can anyone clarify these?
