I have to be honest - that's a pretty good question (I've never owned an ESC with reverse). check the instructions with the ESC to see if there's any info that answers the question...

They are the same rubber compound. The slicks are the same also , I dont see why you cant just run any of the Vintage tires since HPI makes all of them anyway. At our track you can run any of the tires they make for weekly club racing.

The "original" treaded vintage tires are specified by part number as the only acceptable tire. Clubs are, of course, welcome to modify this rule to suit their own needs, but really why would they do that?

The "one tire" rule removes one more potential area for folks to spend money buying all three (now) tire types (and the wheels to go with them) looking for an advantage. If EVERYONE is on the same tires and inserts then nobody is at any disadvantage to anyone else (perceived or otherwise) as regards tires.

One of the ideas behind this class was to take the equipment as much "out of the picture" as was possible.

thanks I agree to that...I wasnt sure cause if these tires was "NEW", I had ppl asking about them at the MCC 09'...I didnt know if they was a replacement to the old ones...like with the Novak 21.5-SS and the Ballistic 21.5....no need to change anything, but if so we need to post it asap..along with the Ballistic motor....we had about 5-6 ppl running them and our RD doesnt really check the forum..and trying to explain something thats not posted in the USVTA...can be a little confusing for some...

If the current rules specify part number then I wouldnt change anything. If not then I would use the old part number since these are no longer the only treaded tire.

I have to admit that I wouldnt protest if someone showed up running them. They dont look like they would handle any better. Just differrent. My feelings might change if people start holding better in the corners with the new treaded tire.

Hey Robk. I just wanted to let you know that there are two new sets of rims out that comply according to the current wording of the rules. I dont think you will have a problem, but I thought everyone should have a look. Im planning on getting a set. They look like the old stamped steel rims.

Didn't see those yet. I'm not too concerned about the rims, as they are all the same beyond the cosmetics, but I'll look at HPI so that can get squared away too.

Yeah, those top ones look like the 15" Mopar rally wheels.
I don't know what those bottom ones are supposed to represent . . . .
