My favorite on-road engines were always Nova based, but I heard that OS was the way to go for off road.
my favorite off-road engines are nova based.. so, you may want to try a P5 or 421B..

I owned 2 vz-bs and had big trouble with them.. the v-spec is a whole different monster though.. it sounds very good.. I haven't seen one with a lot of gallons on it yet.. but I've heard they last..

the hot bodies car is a 7.5 copy cat car and from what Ive heard an excellent buy for the price Ive been told alot of kyosho parts are direct replacements

the jammin car also looks like it would also make a great starter

I do think that if your plan is long term racing a high end buggy will save you money in the long run I know Ive had a GS storm a MBX4XR a MBX5 and now K2 I coulda saved some serious loot if I bought the K2 first since it was actually the new hot lick back when I bought the storm but live and learn I guess

sgt morrow, I use the X1 CR Pro, I can tell you that after my first race with it I knew I had a contendor on my hands....That's not even considering the fact that it was about $500 and comes with enough CNC parts to make a Racers Edge website obsolete, as well as threaded shocks!

The car has very good steering, not nasty, but no pushing, handle bumps very well, fit and finish is top notch and even after several "dough", over some of the big jumps, nothing to report in the broken part area.

I can safely say, even if the X1 Pro isn't the "best car in the world", it is the "best car in the world for about $500".............Jim

thanks for the responses guys about my motor.nothing was damaged just me being a dunbass and treating a high end racing motor like the cheapos i bought before.big diff between a rb and a hyper 21. all is good i did heat cycling breakin and ran it about 4 tanks on the track before we closed up. awsome power. actually too much power for me. gotta learn how to drive again with all that snap.

I like Ofna, a LOT.

Kyosho is a novelty toy company.

Look at Ofna's lineup of vehicles. They devote all their R&D time to quality gas vehicles, no wussy electrics, no crappy toy planes or plastic boats. Parts are easier to find, too. Finding parts for Kyosho vehicles is like needle in haystack stuff. There are tons of websites that carry Ofna parts, and some LHSs do too.

Default 1/8 reciever batteries

What is everyone using for battery packs in their 1/8th scale vehicles?

Right now I'm stuck with alkaline in a standard battery holder.

HVAC, I use Fusion 1400 mah nimh packs, which seem sufficient and are alot less money. For extended runtimes, the Li-polys coming out are pretty unbeatable.

As far as Ofna, I also think they bring a good product for the money, or value for dollar, etc. But I wouldn't seperate them or compare them to Kyosho. Especially considering that Ofna is an importer and doesn't biuld or design much of what they sell. They use Ho Bao and Hung Nor for thier vehicles, and even the new X1 is not made by Ofna, but by Ho Bao(i'm told not hung nor?) as is the Hyper 7......Jammin Jay flew to Taiwan(several times) to aid Ho Bao in the development and manufacture of the X1.

Basically, they are ALL toy companies, but we benifit when things are competitive and there are more to choose from....Watch late this year when Kyosho starts importing their line-up themselves and Great Planes has thier mitts off of it....I'd guess a 777 that is $640 now will be $540 when that happens..............They are all good, imo.....Jim
