Well it is possible that your drivetrain is not as efficient as his, or his motors/batteries are slightly superior, but the difference might not be nearly as signficant as, for example, if you were able to carry an extra 2-3 mph coming out of a corner.
The bottom line is that it is impossible for us to be able to tell whether or not your car is actually any slower than the car leading you by 1.5s/lap. Challenge him to a drag race in the parking lot, hehe.

For your analysis, my TC3 is equipped with QC2(no big blue capacitor installed), Fukyuma matched batteries (1.71), Monster pro motor, 3degree rear toe in, 2 degree camber all around, front and rear diff. My car is 20g above the min weight. I finished charging the batteries just before the race. The car handled quite well (neutral balance). During heats and the final, I did not crash nor touch any board. I mostly followed the race line.

Raceblast-the simple truth is that to keep up with the best drivers-everything matters. And if those guys run at the front Nationally and your 1.5 sec behind, but very consistent-your not doing that bad.
At our track-we have some of the fastest stock and Mod drivers n the country as regulars and most of us struggle to stay within 0.8 sec to even 2 sec. of them in TC and a full second to 3 sec. per lap beihnd them in 12th scale.
What doesnt seem apparent is there ability to time exactly when to lift, when to turn in, how quickly they return to full throttle. Its VERY, VERY hard to run against the top dogs at any track. There ability alone is 0.5 sec and then all the knowlede about motors, good batteries, excellent car set-up is another 0.5 seconds per lap.
I am not downing you-in fact I struggle with the same dillemma every practice night and every race-how to close the gap. I can say I have killer batterues, a a great car, fast motors, the right tires and the right body-but I am still slower than the top 3 or 4 guys every week.
Pay every close attention to there throttle inputs and I bet youll see they lift for a split second and right back-on. But there cars look so smooth on the track.

ok I got a question. I just got some parts from a guy for free for my TC3 and it came with 200mm blue axles and these strang looking front arms.
The arms are thick plastic type. Look machined and look wider than stock.
Anyone know of an aftermarket plastic arm?

Could be the Rally conversion? That was 200mm heavy duty arms I think.

most likely its the rally convershion arms, the arms are a molded composite type of material thats why they look diffrent

Actually the guy I bought them from said they were some prototype arms that Barry Baker made.
Pretty cool. That would explain the rough machined look.

no but he used to race with a guy who knew Barry Baker and gave them to him.

There are several cars running around New England with machined rear cars. They are not from the 200mm conversion. They help account for some strength and sloppy rear toe.

loose diff/tight diff
I just switched to a front one way and was wondering what would be the best for the rear diff,
should it be loose or tight?

does anyone run a one way on carpet? what advantages would it provide for a small tight carpet track?

maybe a spool...... but I can't imagine a one way working very well on a small tight track.
