Default RB engine guys step in...

Few questions

1. Is the crank case the same on the older S5 and S7 engines?

2. Which current model RB engine is most similar to the newer L2G S5?

3. What engine is the Killer 9 based off? Or is it a fresh design?

Thanks

1. Not sure
2. Hobby 9 IIRC
3. New engine. Not an Italian based engine like most RB's are.

S5 and Hobby9 are the same thing as far as I know. Different art on the cooling head.

Are you asking if the S5 and S7 are the same case? If so, I believe they are. Or did you mean are they the same as some new motor? If so we would need to know which new motor.

1. Crankcases are the same for the "S" series. (S3,S5,S7)
I looked up the numbers on my RB dealer price list.

2. New "Hobby 9" head is lighter then the S5 L2G.

3. Not sure but it rips, great engine for the money!!!

the Killer9 is made by Force,
the cases of the S5 and S7 are the same
hobby9 is the successor of the S5L2G which is the successor of the S5

regards,
triple

How are you finding this out? I've searched and searched for something to confirm this and the proof doesn't exist. I have only been able to find a handfull of people here that have made the same statement with nothing to back it up. Only thing I have that says it's not an Italian mill is the sticker on the box that says made in Tiwan.

Looks like a Force, smells like a force, tastes like a force.......

just look at the pic, that looks nothing like any Novarossi based engine I've ever seen.

I was hopeing that parts of it were still NR based. Like the piston/sleeve/conrod in a Chicom block. Looks like its all Chicom.

That's not enough to convince you that it's not Italian? It may or may not be Force but it definitely isn't Nova, Picco, Star, OPS, CMB or any other Italian brand.

I know it's not Italian and I said that, I haven't seen anything that says it's made by Force. Either way I don't care, it rips.

The fact that the K9 is made by Force does not necessarily mean it's a bad engine. I've seen this engine perform really well. I know nothing about lifespan yet, but performance was definitely there.
