Default Good entry level engine for Losi 8ight

hello all. just wanted to get some suggestions from you guys on a .21 engine for my losi 8ight. i'm reviving my 8ight after a 2 yr long hiatus from rc cars due to paintball and other things. anyway, i'm looking for an entry level engine with decent power and ease of tuneability to get me back in the game. my buggy currently has a modded novarossi p5x, which had good power, but was hell for me to tune. it would always take me forever to get things goin just so i could get on the track. anyway, i'm looking for something easier to tune now. it doesn't have to have lots of power since my driving skills are still lacking anyway and i really don't want to spend more than $200. i was thinking of going with an o.s. vg, but i've also read good things about go-tech and sts engines. anyway, let me know your opinions! any help would be appreciated. thanks!

I would reccomend avoiding the VG. There are lots of engines to chose from. I'm not a big fan of the Go engines, but lots of guys love them. Your going to get lots of recomendations for the Nova Rossi and RB budget engines, so I'll let them slide. The GRP non tuned .21 is a nice engine and worth concidering. Also look into the Dynamite platinum .21. The Hyper 8 port Pro is also pretty good and very cheap.

Ok for under $200 and with ease of tuning I would reccomend the Novarossi N21B and the GRP non-tuned version. Amain has a special on the GRP non-tuned version right now for $199, pretty good deal and that's not including the monthly discount that you can apply to it.

whats wrong with the p5x? The one I had held a tune fairly well. I still have it actually, 10 gallons on it and still good compression but needs a new rod.

Any of the cheap Novarossi(N21B) and RB(S3II L2G or "Now"Junior 9) engines would do just fine and come with quality parts...
Another two choices are Werks B3 and Sirio CL3B.

Get a Go tech 3 port 21R it has more power than you need and holds a rock solid tune. Run a 97t plug and don't look back.

From what I've been hearing, they have issues with the piston and sleeve and loosing compression quickly. 1-2 gallons. Plus, they lack in the power department compaired to many other budget engines. This is second hand info and should be treated as such. I just haven't heard anything good (only bad) about them.
