Chores, lawns, that kind of thing is good. Check what the legal working age in your area, sometimes 15 is allowed for fast food and/or bus boys.

don't do dc*90's idea, i know it was in jest.

As for $$ or AMEX of VISA gift cards for Christmas (if you celebrate it)

save everywhere you can.

buy a little at a time.

sell something.

All very good ideas! ask neighbors if you can do anything for some money, some people need their basement or garages cleaned out. Do some shopping for elderly people. Clean up someones yard, wash cars. There's allot of stuff you can do after school and on weekends. It wont take long to save $400

Keep in mind that it's not just money for the kit and other required items. You will need to make sure you can have some sort of sustained income as you will have to buy fuel to keep running and of course the inevitable spare parts when you do break something.

You may be better off looking for a good deal on a used buggy or for someone looking to get out of the hobby in order to cut your costs. There are deals out there if you're willing to look at something less competitive. For example, if you were looking to just get started in nitro and run in the streets, you could pick up a RTR Kyosho Inferno GT car for $299 right now and all you have to add are batteries and fuel.

Otherwise, if you're set on 1/8th buggy, then just look to do the odds and ends jobs as suggested above. If you live in an area where it snows, you could make a pretty good amount of money after a few snow storms. Kids in my area were pulling in $20-40 per driveway.

1st. Get insane knowledge of Radio Control

2nd. Hang out at your local Hobby shop every chance you get.

3rd. Show interest in Helping out around the place

4th. Talk to the manager like all this stuff is 2nd nature

5th. Eventually ask for a job.

Sounds dumb, I know. But It pretty much works. Be stand up and honest and its hella easy to get into the RC Work force. I did when i was like 12-13.

Good advice for any industry. No quicker way to get an r/c car then to get a job at a hobby store!
