Which 10.5T and 17.5T Brushless motors have adjustable timing?
There appears to be some motors with adjustable timing and others without. Some have very limited adjustment that can be achieved ie Novak's even though I think they were intended to have a fixed timing.
As per above, which 10.5T and 17.5T brushless motors have adjustable timing?
How is the timing adjusted for each motor and are there timing marks and by how much can the timing be adjusted?

Tekin - has hash marks
Orion - has hash marks
LRP - has hash marks
Trinity - the Pulse motors have hash marks, the DUO motors use screws for 3 different settings.
Novak - No real markings but there are indentations on the timing ring.
Hacker - ??
No Timing
Speed Passion
You adjust timing by turning the timing ring counterclockwise. Each motor differs on how much timing can added at the motor. Most companies have not been publishing how much timing can be added. Tekin says they can add 24 degrees and I think it's 12 degrees for Novak. Not sure about the others...

Quick question, do all those motors listed have adjustable timing in the stock motor turns.
From what I have see the LRP only has adjustable timing marks on the modified turns and not in the stock 17.5T and 10.5T.
Can the stock LRP motors timing be adjusted

- the LRP x11 stockspec 10,5 has adjustable timing, but
- the nosram Storm Spec Racing 10,5 has not, dont ask me why

Company Representative
The Novak 540 BL motors all use the same external components. Therefore, the timing on the spec motor winds is adjustable to the same degree as the modified wind motors.

just remember the speed passions arent at 0 degrees they are at 12. it is the only roar approved spec motor with no timing adjustment.

RC Market, this thread was not about MOD motors it is about stock motors. That statement makes no sense nor does it help the thread.

I currently own a Novak stock motor and the timing has a very limted range of adjustment, I would like more adjustment if it was possible.

Losi Xcelorin Sensored 10.5
- adjustable timing, but no timing marks on the can
- timing collar with 3 screws, similar to LRP x11s and others
after street testing..
- timing is set very close the minimum, collar can be turned clockwise about 4mm and anti-clockwise about 8mm
- fully retarding the timing provides lower rpm but more starting torque, but the best combination for that seemed to be to retard is about half way (all the way just seemed to lose rpm but no real gain in torque etc)
- fully advancing timing provides an improvement in top end rpm and speed, but you'd probably want to drop a tooth on your pinion to keep the same launch.
This was all done with an LRP TC Spec ESC set on brushless profile 3 (this seems to be the most consistent power no matter what motor brand/wind/timing).
After race testing last night, I feel confident in saying that the LRP x11 10.5 SS has more punch/torque by default than the Xcelorin. I will compare again after I retard the timing on my Xcelorin, but I think the main issues I suffered (low punch out of corners) was torque related, not ratio. Changing ratios matched the punch of other motors, but lost top speed too much.

Am I wrong or can you adjust the timing on the ESC too?
You wont need a motor with adjustable timing if the ESC can do it?
