XERUN in Tamiya Drift Car
Hey guys,
I wanted to know if anyone had the XeRun brushless system in their r/c drift car and if so what are the pros/cons of the motor system. I just recently got mine in the mail today, and am planning on buying a battery for it tomorrow some time at my LHS (Local Hobby Shop), please let me know what you think.
I am going to be putting in into a Tamiya VDF II TA-05!

Hobbywing makes great products. I haven't bought any new Tekins since trying out some Hobbywing ESCs.

Thank you dan, do u have a drifter?

No, I don't care for drifting. I just like going fast.

I used that system in my old TC4 that was setup for drifting. Ran great with no issues. Real cheap way of going brushless and more power.

+1 for Hobbywing products. I've had an ezrun setup for drifting too and it was very smooth for being a sensor less motor. No complaints at all.
I've actually gone 100% Hobbywing escs because of how easy they are to program. I hated not being able to program my tekins easily without the use of a laptop

Thank you guys for all your help. I also wanted to know what lipo packs you guys were running in your drift cars?
PS: To all the people who don't like drifting or think its stupid.
I personally like drifting because its different from every other motorsport and I support it not just because its from Japan, and because its cool, I simply enjoy watching it and going to drifting events because it is different, and everyone has their own style and way of learning to drift.
I would really like to get a real Nissan 240sx SR20DET Powered, but in the mean time I have decided to build a remote control one so I can feed that drifting addiction. I love watching the formula drift circuit. I am 22 years old and found a new passion for cars, yet still trying to do what I love as well!

What I've noticed with drifting is that you really don't need excellent electronics. Find any 4500+mah 2s lipo and you'll be just fine. C Rating doesn't even matter either since you won't be needing crazy rip outta corners or anything. Run time is more important and a 4500mah lipo would get you probably 20 mins of run time. I just use older lipos that I don't use for racing any more.
You'd probably get bored before you actually needed a recharge lol

I don't like full scale drifting that much (even use to have a AE886) but R/C drifting is great. Found it to help to with other racing as you need good trigger control. Doing it in a tight area takes practice.

I never seen it that way before! I guess it could help with throttle control, but you can learn that from other racing as well i guess. I just like doing it cause its sometime to do in spare time and you can have drifting competitions just like full scale!
