The Tamiya Specs site says they're 10 grams, and here I found 12:

So I'm not really sure. I'll just leave them on, and keep the car as is tomorrow, only optimise the tires. I need track time with the car at this point, not necessarily the best possible set-up.

I'll revive the M06 thread a bit. I am dusting off my M06 to begin getting it ready for the on road season to start here in late Sept. The diff (stock gear) got ruined at my last outing w/ my car at Marshall's in March. Should I stick w/ the stock gear diff parts for rebuild or should I consider the ball diff instead? The car was a handful when I 1st started with it last November, but using some setup tips I found on this thread and a LOT of laps, the car was getting better and better. Looking forward to getting the Mini's back on the track!

Stock diff is heavy and doesn't allow much tunability. It doesn't hold silicone fluids.

Spec R and 3 Racing make gear diffs that hold silicone fluids.

I like the M05 balk diff. Had yet to service it once

It's probably a personal preference thing, but I run the M05 ball diff in mine. I've been pretty happy with it, and I've had it in there for 2 years running almost weekly.

I apologize if this was answered already. I searched for 15 minutes and couldn't find an answer.

I am trying to install the 54194 M-05 ball diff into a standard M-06 kit.

When I assemble the diff housings, the diff is able to slide back and forth axially (left to right on the car) about 1mm. I checked my M-05 Pro with the same diff, and there is barely any slop in the diff.

Did I build it wrong?

Or do I just need to find or make an appropriately sized spacer to take up the slop?

Or just live with the slop?

2mm is a bit excessive. Are you using the right bearings? They should be 10x15x4, 4mm being the width.

There are shims you can use also, they come in width of 0.1, 0.2, and 0.3mm. These are used to stop play
