Default Great idea for lathe/break-in power supply

Have you guys seen this? You still need to put it in a project box or something but it's an excellent solution for a cheap way to run a lathe or break in your motor/car.

It's a power supply from a cisco router, the d-connector is where you would put the mini bananna plugs for your 3 and 5 volts.

4 cell pack works well enough for me. Plus it won't electrocute me if I spill something on it.

Well you have to enclose it in something. I'll probably pick one up.

Then again, $15 is pretty good.

Has anybody bought from them before?

Fatdoggy:

Hi,

I have bought from Hank on Hobbytalk.com. I never had any problems with any dealings with him. we got along great.
I used to race with him also.......... until work got in the way and we went Karting instead.

I have thought about one of these also....just need more room in my pit space.

Thanks

I spilt a old pack of 2400's up. Use 3 cells to run my lathe and the other 3 cells to break the motor in afterwards.

The one reason i like this power supply is that you can just run your car in and forget about it for a while without having to maintain batteries.

TimXLB - Thanks.

What that thing would be ideal for, is running in a new cars drive train, stick in an old motor, do necessary drive train prep, gear it as low as hell and plug it in for 12 hours at 5v. You may need a fan to keep the motor and ps cool though.

What I normally do for motor run-in, 4 cell with the radio trim at 50%-60% for a minute to a minute and a half depending on when the aching stops. Works great. I usually do all my motor prep before I go to the races anyway.
