Lightbulb Large Scale Electrics?

Hey guys I was wondering if any one has made a large scale electric vehicle,
eg. the Slash/6 from ultimate rc or a Baja electric conversion
I know if I had the money to I'd like to make a similar vehicle as I quite like the Slash platform and I prefer electrics

Although even to make a 1/5 electric Slash would still add up:
Slash $250
Brushless (VXL) $200
Body $200
Chassis mods $50?
Wheels/tyres $200?
other $75
=$975

(this is in Australian $)
It seems like a lot for an electric but I like the idea.
Any thoughts/discussion on large scale electrics?

The Ultimate RC Slash is just stretched out. None of the other features are large scale. It does look nice, though, but you won't get any of the large scale performance. You'll only lose performance. It's nice for looks, though.

If you plan on installing larger wheels on a large scale Slash, you need a more powerful ESC and motor as well.

Baja Conversion is the way to go if you want a large scale electric. There are simple kits to buy and install, but of course you need a powerful ESC and motor (500-1000$.)

The way to go is to get an extended chassis, larger wheels, bigger shocks, updated steering setup to go with the size of the car, extended wheelbase and a stronger ESC and lower KV motor. I think that would look awesome.

All the mods to the car will probably cost about 300-450$ if you can find the right parts. You could also switch out the VXL motor for a lower KV one and be fine with that and the stock ESC. That will do OK, would perform well and look great.

A large scale that would handle much better though, would most likely require a center diff. (Assuming you are going 4wd.)

If you want to go for the looks, though, an extended chassi and the mods to it can't be that expensive. 100$ or less. You can still do speed runs and such, but offroading will be a pain without the required mods.
