So true...monthly layout changes and year round racing helps make everyone who races there a threat at any track they travel to in the US. (On a club/sportsman level) It's easy to let the negatives overshadow things but come on, the place is DIALED compared to the other electric options in SoCal.

I'm bringing it at the SuperCross...what is "it" exactly?? Here's a hint..it rhymes with orange.

I read before in the past post that according to Slim, SoCal is far from being closed down.

Default racing class?

OK, I race Novice Truck, with my son. After making two 1st place finishes in a row, he is asking me to move to intermediate. He's 9 and competing against him is a little bit crappy. I get a sinking feeling each time I pass him.

I'm not so sure I'm ready. I did some calcs and my Avg. lap times are about 3 seconds down from "average" Intermediate Truck. That doesn't matter to me so much.
I'm sure I'll get faster pretty quick, I'm so new.

When is it time to move up to Int? Should I just go for it? It's not that I'm anxious to do so. I just need to race a different class than my son right now.
I know he'll be kicking my but soon enough.

Move on up. The INT class is still a place of learning. You can still make mistakes but you should be able to post consistant lap times. They do not need to be fast but consistant. Novice is where you crash all the time and learn to get around the track. In INT you will learn to race a little. When you get to So Cal sportsman is when you should be anxious. The sportsman class is fast at So Cal. You will need speed and consistancy to compete with most of those guys. Bump yourself up so you do not need to worry about passing your son. This way you can watch his races and set down his car and stuff like that. I think he will have fun watching your races as well. Slim is pretty good about recongnizing when people need to move up so if he bumped you go ahead and move on up.

He didn't say a word about it. That's why I'm not to sure what to do.
Thanks for the encouraging words Casper.

If you won twice then bump yourself!

If you are going to be at the supercross stop by and say hi. I am kind of hard to miss the track. Look for the super white guy!

Just have fun. If racing with your son makes you feel bad if/when you pass him then get out his class so he can win some! The int class should be more fun with a little cleaner racing! Just remember you days are numbered. He will be putting laps on you soon enough I am sure! Those young kids have a way of doing that to us "more experience" people!

I hope so. I was planning on going all day Wed as well. My understanding is the track is open all week for practice. Did the layout get finished yesterday?
