Default Question about tires

Hey guys. What type of tires should I be lookin into buying if I mainly use my car on pavement ? and a little bit of drifting once I get the hang of controlling my car

I want some nice rims as well...should i be lookin into 26mm, 27mm, or 28mm tires and rims

80% - pavemant/cement

20% - Carpet

Takeoff or RP premounts are the best for rubber, they come in various temp ranges. 20C to 30+C. Pick a range for your local track temps. They work great of pavement and carpet. Also consider Sorex tires

You acutally want 24mm tires for electric sedan racing.

This should help give you an idea of what kind of wheels you can get in that size.

And don't waste good tires drifting - wrap an old set in tape or the like and slide/drift on the tape.

That's because the stock tires are made to be "scale" - not raceworthy.

Unless you get the premounted tires Joel mentioned above, you will need to buy tires and inserts in addition to the wheels. If buying seperate tires, the Sorex brand ones work pretty well.

These are inserts.

Since our tires don't hold air, this is what helps the tire keep it's shape and effects a cars' traction much the way a tire pressure adjustment will effect a full-scale racecar.

Rubber tires should generally be better than foam for you on pavement. Foam tires tend to slide on dusty surfaces and most racing tracks do not allow them for asphalt races anyway.

Do your self a favor and grab a set of RP20's or RP30's. Vancouver is still kool this time of year??? So likely you could run 20s now and 30s once the summer kicks into gear.. Any of your local hobby shops that carry TAKE OFF or SPEEDMIND products(coming from magma in toronto) can get RP as they come from magma as well.

For messing around in parking lots these will be the hot ticket and you should get them mounted for about $50CND. Thats 4wheel,tires and inserts all assembled and ready to run.
