Unhappy Freakin hot GTB , help please.

Hi guys, i went to run my normal GTB in my car (not the 4 cell one ), but i ran 4 cell and my gearing was 17 tooth pinion and 55 spur and my motor wasnt that hot but my GTB it was freakin hot , it was so hot that even my chassis underneath was very hot .
Is it because my gearing was too low or is it something else. i wasnt using it in my car but in my buggie and 55/17=3.2 and when i run it in my HB cyclone , 32/108 =3.3 .
I was running it in my 2wd buggi and it was a 3.5BL motor with 4cell with a fan on the GTB.
Whats wrong ?
Thanks , any help will be much apreciated .

You stated your gear ratio for what you were running but what about the FDR (Final Drive Ratio)? I am sure that the IR (Internal Ratio) for the 2 vehicles are way different and that give you a different FDR which could be the cause.

Well the FDR on your Cyclone is 7.128 (3.3 gear ratio * 2.16 internal ratio).

The FDR on your Tamiya buggy is 9.28 (I believe) which would mean (3.2 gear ratio * 2.9 internal ratio).

I got the 9.28 for the buggy off the Tamiya webiste.

Buggy linky

It says gear ratio so I could be wrong. I don't know if a higher or lower FDR makes the ESC work harder but that could be your problem. What motor and batteries are you using with the buggy? What types of connectors also?

Hi , i have HB cyclone WCE so the internal ration is 2.4375 , doesnt matter , and i have nosram 3.5 with EP 4200 who are CRAP , 12 month old .
Thats very very usefull , because the the motor should be geared at 8.2-8.7
So i think it explains alot but what i dont get is the pitch for this buggy , its not 48 neither 64
Thanks for helping me out with the ratio.
Thanks again

32 pitch I believe

13T pinion
18T pinion

The part number for the 17T pinion that you have on now is 3515005. A 19T is an optional part and the only other one that will fit without modifications.

Here is a thread that you could look-over for some ideas too:
