This is what I read so far:

Tamiya has announced a new TRF417 based on the 2012 IFMAR 1/10 Electric world championship winning car driven by Jilles Groskamp.

Tamiya 42240 TRF417wx Specs

Features include

•One piece servo mount - Mounted on the inside only the floating servo mount to allows the chassis to flex more easily
•Aeration Dampers - Similar to the ones used on the TRF501x and other TRF buggies. These new shocks will allow more accurate set up for negative rebound.
•New lower Deck - New deck with minimal cut outs, provides controlled flex for more rigidity and better roll balance.

There are a lot of advancements in the RC chassis of today. In my opinion, it goes down to your preference. The TCX-X also came out with a similar design. Not to forget the TOP Photon too. Just when I finished upgrading my "old" model chassis and began to "master" driving it, here comes a new generation of chassis making me feel my stuff are obsolete.

The 417 has been brilliant on asphalt but a lot of us are still using our 416WE on high bite carpet.

With the chassis optional parts and recent strides team tamiya has made on carpet setup this new chassis could be the ticket to finally get me off my old ride.

Will the car come with dual gear diffs or a spool in the front. The picture shows dual diffs??

Not sure yet Peter. My guess is that it will come with two gear diffs. That is where RC technology is headed in my opinion. This chassis will for sure set a new standard.

cheers!
