I don't undestand something about these cars... I understand that factory want to re-use the plastics from their buggy cars, but why are these cars so "squared"? They should be longer so the bodies could have a chance to be less ugly... I really don't understand, and arent' these wheels way to big for the scale? Cars will be way more effective if the proportions were closed to a 1:10th touring car...

Nice! I'm about to start building my E converted RGT8. Already have the kit/extra parts ready to go.

Does anyone have recommendations on GT8 tires for just general street running? I'd like to get some actual GT8 tires though, not Buggy street tires from Pro-line/Duratrax/etc, the sidewalls are too thick for a GT car IMO.

What do you run on primary and what ballpark temps? Generally treaded tires for non-prepped surfaces. Also generally the harder the tire the longer the wear but less traction.

I have been happy with the wear on my Sweep 45s on concrete on 4s.

Asphalt of varying age/condition, streets and parking lots exclusively. C In the summer ambient is usually 85°F-95°F. In the fall/winter that can go down into in the 45°F-65°F range. I usually won't bother running anything once it goes below that, my fingers get too cold.

I was already planning on getting treaded tires. How well do the sweeps handle dust/dirt on the pavement?

I would go with 45-50 shore EXP then in the treaded version as thats what I have been running around on in about the same kind of surfaces/temp and can't complain.

Can the Hobbywing XR8 SCT Pro handle these 1/8GT cars on 4S or do you need the
XR8 Plus? Motors will be in the 1900 to 2200 KV range

Depends on the motor you going to use. With 1900KV the XR8 SCT Pro might do the job. If you go higher use the XR8 Plus.

Anyway you need to start on the low side with the gearing and carefully watch the temps.

I'd just go for the XR8 Plus and be safe. I have no idea on the gearing we need with that straightaway.
