Tamiya TA05MS
#1276
I thought I had the short arm set up down on this car when I last posted my set up sheet. After a little bit more testing, it turns out that the car had too much forward weight shift under braking for corner entry.
So, I set my 416 aside for a bit to get my TA05MS working well. I made a number of changes (blue front spring, front lower shock mounting position, roll center) and though I only got to test the MS a little, I can already feel that it's much more dialed. I may think up a few new things to try if more laps will reveal new weaknesses. If anyone's interested, I attached the set up that I am currently using.

i presume the "wheel spacer" figure that is used in that setup sheet includes the clamping wheel hub...
the TA05MS comes with the 5mm hubs, so the figure of 5mm means there are no additional spacers..
i have seen this also used to just show how many additional spacers above the default wheel hub
eg. 4mm hub 1mm spacers could show as just 1mm, with the assumption the default hubs hadnt been changed etc

attached is my setup, driven mainly on carpet but she works equally as well on asphalt

With short arms at least, it seems like the blue springs up front are the way to go. When I used a one way and the regular LW arms in my TA05MS, yellow up front with red rears worked well.
It's great that there are set ups being posted for this car. Even when the MS was first released, there weren't really any set ups posted to get ideas from.

The softer springs probably worked because I used the one way for a tight low traction course.

Yup, too much roll with a lot of power equals instability.

Letting everyone know my MS is working great, im running 17.5 on a tight ashpalt track with rubbers. Will get my setup posted very soon.

I got a 05MS which i just finished building, except the electrics.
what parts would you suggest i need an engine, esc, batteries
i'm not competing in any races. i just want a good allround setup. i maybe even want to get into drifting.
i was thinking of these parts:
engine: team orion Vortex BL Experience Drift
esp: Vortex Experience Brushless
batteries: 5000 platinum 2 cell
could you please give me some advice.
would you change any other parts.
Thanks.

Those electrics look fine. Check to see if the lipo will fit (it should do)
As an aside, my car is racing really well atm

Hello everyone,
I'm getting back into racing RC cars after 10 years (last car was a Schumacher SST2000), and I just got a crazy good deal on a TA05MS.
I plan on running Canadian TCS GT2 class, which requires a tub chassis, so the plan so far is to convert the MS to the TA05R chassis.
Now, what parts are required to remove the beautiful carbon lower plate and replace it with the R tub?
Thanks for any help, and I look forward to tearing it up with my new toy.

AFAIK you can't put tub chassis on 05ms.
It is designed for carbon fiber.
