Default CRC Fenix F1 Imperial Gear Diff

Anyone using this in their F1 car? How is it working? Is it worth the money?

I have a CRC WTF1 FC16 that diffs out in turns. I've read that seems to be par for the course in the F1 cars. This seems like a pricey option but is it the only option?

Thanks in advance for advice, comments, etc.

On carpet they work very well and are used a lot. They do require maintenance often but nothing difficult.

Thanks! So what weight diff fluid is used? When you say they require maintenance often, what and how often needs to be done? I assume changing out diff fluids, but what else?

From what I can see of them they are not actually a sealed diff, you apply the diff oil / grease to the gears but anything thinner than say 250k will probably just seep right out.

1 million to 2 million for black carpet.

Usually need to relube every couple runs.

Wouldn't that mean they essentially need more maintenance than the ball diff, thus negating one of the key advantages of the gear diff over a ball diff?

It takes only a few minutes to relube the internal gears, and thats taking your time...

It makes the car easier to drive while giving instant acceleration.

No it's performance based. You can't get ball diffs tight enough for the traction levels of black carpet. I would prefer to run the ball diff but it just doesn't work as well.

Ok thanks, am actually looking at these for a 200mm pan car, running on outdoor asphalt (13.5 blinky 2s class) and sort of on the fence if it's a worthwhile investment.

I didn't like the gear diff when racing on asphalt in F1, but that is just me.

I race 1/12 pan car on mid to high bite track using the Fenix gear diff.

A very very thin coat of 2 million works very well. I usually hold one rear wheel and let the motor spin at low speed to free up the diff a little before actually putting the chassis on asphalt.


Car has instant throttle, but very easy and consistent to drive.


First timers need time to figure out the sweet spot, after that, it's all enjoyment.

@ Nexxus:
European Pancar users are often on 3.5 - 4.5 motors on 2S lipo.... ;-)
they use our Gear Diff with 2.5 million syrups.
A sphere diff, just can't cope...

Indoors I've used 100,000 on Black carpet with not that much maintance. If needed it might take less than 5 minutes. Have used both in F1 and WGT-R.
