loose flywheel/collet question

loose flywheel/collet question
I have a xxxnt rtr
every time i run it the flywheel gets loose
I cant tell if the flywheel is getting loose from the collet or if the collet is loose form the drive shft or both. I do use thread lock and i do reef on it when I put it on - but somehow it gets loose during the driving
ive used shims to try to make the collet grab the shaft at a different spot and that helped a little bit, but it still came loose in the main
has anyone ever seen this/ know how to fix

Are you using the Losi collet? If you aren't sure, get a new Losi collet. The Losi collet has a different taper than the collet that comes with most engines. If your RTR engine is stock, it probably has the proper collet. I would just get a new collett anyway. Also inspect the ID of the flywheel for defects or scars from spinning on the collet. If it is damaged, get a new one.
If all that checks out, use 1 drop of red loctite on the crank threads. It should not be coming off.

Same thing happened to me....
My flywheel worked itself loose on my XXXNT-RTR on about the third run. It also flared out the opening on the flywheel, so I just bought a new collet/flywheel set and cinched it down good. No troubles since...
Probably would save you lots of grief if you do the same thing....instead of trying to re-use the flywheel.....

good tips - im gonna get a new flywheel and collet. I already rplaces the collet with a losi one, but I think I should probably also get a flywheel.
Ive even thought of scuffing the flywheel and collet to get friction - but it doesnt sound like that would be a good idea
