Designing my own Motor Cooler
Hi.
i am trying to make my own motor cooler (muchmore style) with a 12v fan and a heat sink...... was wondering what direction the fan should blow....
whats better, blow fresh air into the motor OR
blow air away from the motor, thus having the fan suck the hot air and sucking it away from the motor?

Maybe those who have made coolers or can recommend what spec components should be used, should post in this forum

Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but as far as i know the Much-more motor cooler uses the fan to blow air directly over the large heatsink.
Not to mention the cooler uses a thermoelectric cooler to lower temperature. the fan and heatsink are simple a way to remove the excess heat.
Thermoelectric coolers use an electric current passing through a series of thermocouples to produce a net loss in temperature. Ie. the thermocouple plate gets cold on one side, and hot on the other. (the hot side is connected to the large heatsink and fan)
thermocouple units can be bought from computer supplies but are usually square and flat. Also, care needs to be taken to make sure the unit is EXACTLY the size needed. These units cool so much they can start freezing condensation from the air. not good for your motor! So a unit that is too big will have areas not touching the motor.. Ie. just cooling air.

It doesn't matter if you get some moisture on your motor either, it will not damage the motor.

i tried a regular heat sink and a 12v fan, it didnt do jack. 1 degree at most.
i am interested in more of this peltier thingo... i searched it, but doesnt really say how to do it... or where to get the materials...
anyway i decided to convert my design to an onboard cooler whilst driving, and made the fan blow at the motor, sort of like supercharging. i'll post pics soon

yeah thats what i got. i ditched the shitty fan on that, and put my own fan, blows 10 times stronger!

i actually have a 3racing fan unit too.
Dunno why.. stupid to "suck" air away from the heatsink. does jack-all to help cool it. i flipped mine around. And i wired mine directly to the batt terminals. the fan comes with a pin connector for the ESC, but that's only 5-6v. The fan actually says it's a 7.2v fan!

yeah the fan is 7.2v, so u will benifit by hooking up direct to the esc battery wires... anyway my fins on the fans all broke and the wires that connect to the fan shorted very easy....

so whats the recipie for making a peltier motor cooler??
