How long are you guys breaking them in? Also-after break-in-have any of you tried a skim-cut?

I have gotten a lot of good runs out of the f-brushes-but I am starting to think a long break-in followed by a skim cut might make them faster and get a god 4 or 5 runs before replacing. Any thoughts?

I used to do the skim cut thing before, but I started to get lazy and now I just break them in. The brushes dont wear the comm enough for me to really worry about it in stock. I haven't noticed a difference in performance either, it still rips lol.

Ya Stephen. These brushes are awesome. They definately are back to where they once were! Hey are you going to Scottys summer sizzler? We are signing up early. Stock foam man.
As far as break in. The ussual 180 seconds dont quite do it. I do 280-300 seconds run in. Then all the contact to the comm is there. Then a skim cut and run it. After several runs the brushes still have serations and look good as well as the comm.

this isn't directly about f-lines but skimming the comm straight after running in brushes sort of defeats the point of running them in.

running them in lets the bnrush 'seat' properly and take the shape of the comm...if you did this and then cut the comm then it would have to be rerun in.

after running in, i just quickly use a comm stick on the comm to get rid of the black marks it leaves..doesn't really have much effect but never mind

Ray,

I started doing the same thing at the last race, in 19 turn I was breaking them in for 600 sec at 2 volts then ever so slightly skimming the comm to get rid of the "break-in" lines. It seemed to work really well and keep the comm from discoloring as bad (it was 95+ deg out that day), I think I've also heard EA mention a longer break-in time in regard to the F's but I'll let him confirm that.
