Gear diffs for the TC4?
Are there or have there been any companies making gear diffs for the Team Associated TC4?

Kind of disappointing that they are not made.
Anyone know??

given the size of the ball diff (width) and the molded cavity of the gearbox not allowing the diff to change in size it is not a very plausible part to produce. The TC4 is also 2 platforms old (TC6 is the current) and there is not a lot of market to make a gear diff for it.

The current tc4 ball diff is perfect in the rear, but the front requires a spool for top notch performance !!! Just make sure to fit losi lcd's(losa3344) in the front, instead of AE cvd's !!!!!!!! After that, the ball diff will last forever!

Will the re-release of the TC4 change anything?

Are you willing to mod some more and sell them at a price not too unreasonable?

I know this is a bit of an old thread now...
I prefer gear diffs just because it's mechanically more realistic... Which is at first why it drove me to look at TC4 re-release for its shaft-driven 4WD (that's not a Tamiya TT-01). But then no option for gear diff.

The TC4 is a twin brother of the SD from Yokomo. Which is the same platform used for some of the drift cars on the market today from Yok (and others).
Some time ago, Yokomo released a very nice gear diff for these cars which fits perfectly in the old SD. I haven't tried it in a TC4 and from pictures it looks the gearboxes are somewhat different, but perhaps worth a shot.
I have also successfully modified a Tamiya TB(?) geardiff to fit the SD, but this is more fiddly and involved and with the Yokomo diff on the market there's no point for me to pursue this avenue, but for the TC4 it may just give the needed size to fit in the g'box case.
There's also a Spec R diff for the TB platform, which has a tapered casing and may fit easier than the above. Again, I have never tried this.
