Default Nitro Verse Electric are we losing the battle

Every time I log on to RCTECH the electric thread has more viewers then the nitro thread. Since technology has changed dramatically from our Hornet and Frogs days with speed controllers, motors and batteries will Nitro be chasing the electric scene??

Tuning our nitro engine takes a good leaning curve and knowing how will win races but is that the same as adjusting your power curves, armature, and end points. Nitro fuel, smoke, and fumes to me is the ultimate thrill but are we losing the battle against electric a lot of people crossing over.

Electric has a more broader spectrum of vehicles. Think about it, 1/10th buggies, stadium trucks, SC's, 1/8 E Buggy/Truggy. Nitro is mostly 1/8 buggies and truggies.

come on man not this, tread again geez. nitro racing isnt going anywhere anytime soon. one reason. why the electric ,has more post on it is because of the short corse trucks,, and, other 1/10 cars really. and a lot beginners. and no nitro engines are little, by little improveing with run time etc.

the people that i race with at the track,, i go to its mainly nitro and a couple of electrics.

Why does it have to be a battle? Run whatever you like and let others do the same.

Race both Here in Colorado we race 10th electric indoors during the winter and 1/8 nitro outside in the summer. Electric 1/8 scale racing has not taken off as far as outdoor racing goes. It is starting to gain some popularity indoors but our indoor tracks are very small for 1/8 scale.

I've never ran electric, unless you consider me chasing the dog with the rc18b stock.

I don't know anything about motors and esc's. I feel more comfortable tuning my engine.

Nitro for life

well i can see if more people are converting ,their buggys for indoor racing but for outdoor nitro is the thing... but really when some,, people say that electric is faster but can you drive, it and really your not gone. to go that fast when your racing so,, i dont see the point....

i have a couple of racing buds that did ,,convert and all i see is problems with the speed controler thier lipos are puffing,, and one catching on fire ... to many things man ...

and also most tracks i go to that mostly,, do club racing and money races etc
only do 5 minute heats and 20 to 25 mains ..so really,, the electric 1/8 isnt to much of a advange..

Electric has a long way to go before even coming close to nitro. So I would definitely say NO, nitro is not losing the battle......Yet. I don't think that will ever be the case, and if it is, it will be a long time form now.
