about servos - guys, i guess it doesnt matter - just use what you like (and have had good experience with) and stick with it. Seems like everyones had problems with every brand (okay, ive heard about hitec more than others) but yeah if we were to go by that there'd be nothing to pick.
I've personally run futaba all my life and never had a problem, so i'll stick with it. If it's the same for you and hitec, horatio, why the hell not

In reality, I've seen very few Hitec servos being used for racing, so perhaps that's the reason why I've never seen a Hitec go up in smoke. But so far (touch wood!!) I've had a really good run of luck with Hitec. Statistically, I'm overdue for a Hitec failure - but it just isn't happening
Hitec now own JR, a well respected company, so this should help improve Hitec's quality on the Radio side of things too.

ive had hitec servos fail in every type circumstance possible throttle and steering on/offroad

I'll just count myself lucky then!
It would still be nice to know the specifics regarding the failures though - the info would be helpful to those considering buying new Hitec stuff and also those like myself who already race Hitec servos in 1/8th buggies.

almost every failure involved the servo to just stop working (no reaction to input) but 1 time i stripped a gear

Found a used futaba 9451 so i'm getting that soon, hopefully it will be good. Will get a 9350 for steering later, and the 9451 can drop to throttle/brake.
tambok - thanks - but though i like the 063, i was asking about the os because i dont like how the rb's get destroyed so easy. I'll try a 2050+waller next, see how it goes.

you can get it on line at www.nitrohouse.com
The waller adapter can make your pipe longer thus giving the engine more torque (in theory). People use it when they see if their engine doesn't have enough power to clear the jumps...especially when jumps and corners are too close to each other.
re: JB weld
it only applies to the OS2050 pipe's pressure nipple . (reinforcement)
....do not be sorry....everybody learn from each other....rookie or non rookie

went racing for the first time yesterday.... not really racing just practising on the track with some friends. first time i've done it though, had a lot of fun
the track isn't finished yet, but it's mostly done. only two or three jumps on the whole track, more would be fun, but it's not a very big track I guess. I'll get some pics next time, no one had a camera this time.
is anyone driving a 7.5 here still, or is everyone x5'in?

Good thread... the first few pages are just what I was looking for.
I'm curious how different the Lightning pro2 is form the Lightning pro.
Should I only consider the new version?
Also, I'm very interested in the Swift, but there hasn't been much talk about it lately. Is there a "pro" version? Is it still making a good showing and proving durable?
thanks
