Too bad about the carpet track. It was nice while it lasted. I've been doing some off road in Georgetown and Killeen and a little asphault.

There are rumors about a new parking lot track and Georgetown is building a new offroad track at their new location.

I've seen Atomic a few times with an 1/8th scale. Haven't seen Dave in a while, but I heard he won the Region 9 race.

SPAZ. I did the same as Boomer. Just removed all the balls, washed everything out dry, and assembled it all tight.

I actually used titanium diff halves, mainly because they are stronger and at least as light as the plastic ones.

However, on our fast sweeping track it didn't seem to give any advantage, so i'm back with normal plastic diffs...with balls!

What's up to all in the drivers seats of TC3's around the world.

You can call me BC if you like, but BendingCorners is what I do.

I'm in the Fast Cali and I'm just getting back to R/C after 10months of saving, struggling, and the purchase of a New House(to me) and a new truck.

I went to SoCal Tuesday night, ready to shake the rust off and I got my BUTT get by everyone, even a few novice during practice.

I AM NOW OFFICIAL BACK TO R/C AND READY TO REGAIN MY SPOT.

I know Tony P (good guy) Brad G (Good guy) Torrance (good guy) and a few others, but I need an update on what is what.

First: explain to me the benefit of this "lock diff thang", I'm lost.

Many, many more questions to follow.

Hello!!!


I just finished building my FT-TC3!!!
My race is on Saurday (its friday 3:30am here)
My LHS ran out of springs for the TC3!!!
The silver and gold springs are to stiff.
I have nothing else to use, except Tamiya's Yellow in Front
and Red in the Rear.

Has any body here experimented with any other springs aside form associated?

or

Has somebody here used Tamiya Springs on a TC3?


lastly?

the kit is a bit noisy, I am using 48p 72t and 25t pinion.

Well, this mostly comes from Tony -

A locked diff gives you many of the bene's of a one-way - tons of steering while on power (just like a one-way) with the tolerance of a diff (you have brakes, you're not limited to one line. . .)

I find it easier to drive, more fun and just more solid.

ok thanks boomer that exactly what i was looking for. im building a whole extra diff with steel outdrives so i will just not assemble a thrust bearing or anything like that. thanks

That's what I did too. . .it's nice just being able to pop in a one-way, pop in a locked or pop in a regular diff!

i emailed associated about the stering knucles striping ive been racing 2 tc3 since they first come out and envolved in r/c racing for
20 years this is the slap in the face they sent me in reply

dont get me wrong i still love my tc3s but now if i would buy another if they have this kind of suport

lem2: i used tamiya springs on my tc3, blue (stiff) front and red (soft) rear. for a higher grip track, i use white (stiffest) front and yellow (medium) rear.

I understand your problem. I also understand the other side of it, being in the support side of another industry.

The people at Associated are pretty much just general guys, like you or me, who are racers as well (most of them) so they do know (again, most).

But they aren't mind readers and many aren't even that intuitive. So, when they ask for more information, or say that you didn't give enough information, what they are saying is that the scenario you have given is too broad for any specific solution.

ie - you didn't give enough information, or in English that they could understand.

I have mine strip out fairly regularly as well. It is a weak point in the design because of the amount of force that is applied to the ball stud, especially when you hit something.

Try using a little CA when assembling it (the thick kind so you can get the stud in it. . .)

If it's stripping when you assemble it, you're doing something wrong.

lem: the springs should work fine for this saturday's race. they arnt too stiff coz the track is fairly smooth. dont be misguided by the fact that we use the silver-blue combo coz those are used when we run at IVO or Capitol which are bumpy tracks. in fact in capitol you can still get away with using the gold springs. its not as stiff as you think. i might go stiffer myself (that dint come out to well did it? ) for this weekend's race.

I've had the same problem too, it's just a weak point in the design of the car. I've been running my tc3 for over 2 yrs now and i've given up on the original tc3 steering knuckles, try using the metal steering knuckles by GPM, they work well and seem to hold up. TC3 still the best!!!

Are you guys using the correct screws????

I've had my share of TC3's and RARELY had this problem. You don't need to tighten them down until they bottom out. Snug is fine. These screws are not made as spindles....merely to hold the parts together. They don't need alot of torque put on them.

You could try threadlock or CA, but I don't think I know anyone (personally) that has had this problem.

But that's just me....
