I just don't get it. Why do people believe they can move a part that is held on with countersunk screws? I agree with Airwave, countersunk screws are going to find the center of the countersunk and that's it.

First ever meeting with the TC7.2 after running Xrays for several years, set a new PB on used tyres on a cold but dry track, couldn't have asked for more. Our track is quite small but good traction and we have some large kerbs that used to tip my Xray over far too easy, I didn't have this issue with the Associated. Car was mega all day, more to come I'm sure.

The screws absolutely will follow the countersinks, that's what defines the screw center as you clamp the parts together. When I do stack ups involving csink screws I don't consider the slop between the screw thread OD, and hole ID for this reason. Unlike normal socket or button head type screws, for example. If you use jigs or alignment tools you may force the parts out of this condition, but I'd be worried that one the tool is removed the screws will eventually move back to the centers defined by the c-sinks.

FWIW.. my background is mechanical engineering design in aerospace, 12 years.

yeah i feel this way too, id rather have my car not 100% actually straight but not tweak when i roll a dot. the screws do move around just a bit in the countersinks unless you have straight gorilla grip

There is also the issue of countersunk holes in relatively soft carbon fibre chassis. These carbon chassis deform very easily under the load of the screw head and therefore bulkheads can be manipulated into alignment or misalignment during construction or crashing. You can easily tweak bulkheads on a brand new car with poor attention to the squishy nature of carbon fibre. It happens all the time. Don't just assume the screw will follow the countersink perfectly. The material is too soft and not uniform in density nor hardness.

Now I know why this thread is so quiet... because the car is so good!

I finally had the chance to drive my 7.2 today (only for ten minutes) and it was very easy and felt very nimbly. Even with the off balance I had it was awesome.

I finally finished building mine! Very excited to have my first test drive.
But after adjusting and doing all measurments I got little bit confused:
weight on the singe wheels are (ready to drive, no body):
front: 294g 294g
rear: 288g 300g
what may I have done wrong, that the rear wheels show such a difference while everthing else seems to be prefect?
ride hight is:
front: 5.4 5.4
rear: 5.6 5.6
tweak also seems to be fine as well:
both wheels are lifting from ground in front at the same time, when lifting the car in front - respectively in the rear.

... it‘s not my first TC I was building ...
Any ideas what I may check again?

Mine was even worse. I had diagonal the same weight, but every other side was off 20 gr. The chassis is perfect straight, everything ok. I blame the light motor for it. The actual Hobbywing motors are 20-30 gr. lighter than my X20 is. In the end I just needed a little adjustment on the shocks to make it even on all tires.

Agreed, I rarely see cars that close before tweaking the preload springs to compensate.

Correct...Mine are usually over 60grams off....This tc7.2 is already perfectly balanced to me......
