Touring Car Setup - info foam on asphalt ?
Hey all you guy.... the vast majority of you speed demons run rubber tires....
i was wondering are there any of you out there running TCs
with foam on the tar....

I tried a couple of rubber setups... actually tried a lot...
it dont work too well... i see rubber need flex...
the carpet setups where not too bad but still off the mark...
im looking for some info to acellerate the learning curve.... heheh

I used them in the 90's in a stock motor class (27t) and they were a good way of controlling cost, although you had no way of policing a spec tyre back then. Now I belive that some foam tyres have a coloured ring built into them for this very reason, should you want to run a spec tyre.
Nitro compounds work best, anything from 35 shore or harder, anything if a softer compound will just be torn up too quickly... Think of the wheel spin a brushless kicks out, especially on an untreated surface, a soft tyre wont last long.
Typically you wont be using additive of any kind, as it will just collect all the dust/grit from the asphalt.

Sorry, no I only race 27t and 19t for now so I wouldn't really know about that.
Although primarily mod is a rubber class, as the wear rate and setup is going to be high maintanance
Cast your mind back to brushed motor days and you will know what i'm talking about... I can only imagine everything to be magnified on wear rates in mod, tyres,motor and general wear and tear included.
If you are looking at racing foam with modified outdoors, you will be looking at the highest number possible, or not that shy of it, if you want to be trying mod with them. they should wear quite well, you might want to experiment with "sun block" sun tanning lotion too to help them grip so i've heard.
Use sparingly and allow to soak into the tyre quite well. I definately wouldnt leave any surplus on the tyre as it may not work in your favour...

Hello Guys.
i drive a corally phi.
the traction is is usuallty 70-90%
i need to cary corner speed....
the track is a good blend of high speed and low speed corners.....
any general tip... spring weights....
oils.... track is slightly bumpy in high speed sections.
short / long links...

Theres been occasions where we have ran foam on our track, and we had to run a hard setup and actually rub jam into the tires to get any traction

we use the rc foam traction compounds out there...
they work ok for traction
35shore to 38 is ok... any more then it just slides around
i havnt tried lett than 35...
the tires are not the problem... its the car setup....

Do they use soda or sugar water on the track? I run a very soft setup and only use 4 screws in the top deck with orings. 35wt shock oil f&r with blue and silver springs. I a foam lower chassis with a itf upper chassis. 1 deg toe out front and 2.5 deg toe in. 2 deg camber all around.

yeah , brown sugar and water mix used on the track...
i used also a soft setup, but too slow in the corners...
