We were running about a 3.2" rollout in 12th with the 17.5 on a smallish track.

on a 70X48 track in 12th scale... I ran a lrp speedo with the novak 17.5.
I ended up running around a 3.16-3.19" rollout it temps out around 150-155 any higher and its over 160...
the 17.5 definately feels spongier (sp) than the 13.5 did on the bottom end... probably all that gear we have to run on it.

let us know what you find out - I will be doing some testing here in the next few weeks as well...i am going to try to go back to back with brushless vs brushed....

well for what its worth... with the gearing on my track posted above for the 17.5 brushless compared to roar stocks and cobalts geared appropriately on the same track... I'm running near identical times
on a dry track (not sprayed for traction) I ran 9.7's with the reg brushed motors for a fast lap and at the end of 8 minutes I ran 10.2
same scenario with brushless 17.5 I ran a fast lap of 9.7 ending about a 10.2
my biggest problem right now with the brushless is consistency. I'm so used to brushed motors and where to roll on and off throttle etc. I'm missing corners a little more so I'm "faster" with brushed, but I think once I get used to the difference and maybe dial in the braking the way I want I'll like the brushless better. I will say that with the 17.5 geared so high I have to stay on power a lot more to turn quicker laps. the 17.5 bogs a lot more out of corners than my roar stock or cobalts do. where I'd back off to half throttle with brushed I back off only a quarter now with the brushless. Again I think its just a feel thing that I'll get use to.
One place that the brushless will make you or break you is the coming onto the straight and into a sweeper. If you hit it perfect you pick up tenth, but if you miss it just a hair you will lose 2 tenths. You can hear the rpm difference big time. I'm not talking about blowing a corner bad either just pinching it off just a bit and not running the perfect arc. again it comes down to huge rollouts and corner speed.
I don't notice this so much in brushed... perfect line is a tenth, miss it just a little lose a tenth to me...
what surprised me is that the brushless fell off just as much as the brushed motor... this wasn't the case when we ran 13.5's in 12th scale they only fell off maybe a tenth or two start to finish, but the 17.5 fell off .4 to .5 tenths just like the regular motor did.
Maybe I haven't hit the "perfect" gear yet but I've been up and down 4 teeth from what I found to be the fastest and the results stayed the same
maybe someone else can comment on if their motor falls off the same or not???

Maybe the motor falling off the last few minutes are due to the batteries.
I've been running a Novak 17.5 w/LRP TC Spec in my TC and have noticed the same thing. This is with NiMh 4600 Ener-G cells, this weekend I'll be testing w/lipo and we'll see if there is a difference.
On a side note, as the only 17.5 on the track, turned the fastest lap of the day

no its not the battery it ran 10min 30 sec.
it fell off at the 6 min mark...
well its not dumping... but yes it could be the voltage dropping off to a lower level over the discharge curve though... with brushless being more voltage dependent... but,
I really feel like its the motor heating up though. when we ran 13.5's they never got close to 150's on our track and didn't fall off but a tenth or two start to finish...

where are you gearing your stuff at....this weekend will be my first outing with my 17.5 and we will be spraying track...so traction should be half way decent...
