LRP 13.5 BRUSHLESS MOTOR
Whats the differance between the Modified X11 13.5 Lrp brushless motor and the Stock Spec X11 2nd generation Lrp 13.5 brushless motor? Apart from the price and color of lable.

If race rules of your place is unlimited by homologation, old 1 is your choice.

I think the earlier LRP 13.5 (and, other mfgs 13.5s) featured a rotor that was larger than the size ROAR eventually approved for stock-spec racing.

Crap I might have got the wrong one then. I went with the 13.5 stock spec and will be running with 19T motors.

The words "Stock Spec" has nothing to do with being stock. Stock Spec is the legal ROAR and IFMAR motor. It meets all of the new rules. I have an 8.5 Stock Spec. Can I run your stock class club races?

Ran the 13.5 "Stock Spec" motor today for the first time, and ran very well with it. I was on pace with a Novak 13.5 and Speed Passion 13.5 from other racers.
As for differences between the 1st and 2nd generation LRP Vector motors, the 1st generation 13.5 LRP motors were not Sintered Rotors, you had to buy the Sintered Rotor in addition to the motor. Additionally, LRP's 1st gen "sintered" rotors were not Nickel Plated, and not the most durable; the 2nd gen sintered rotors are black with a nickel plated magnet.
There are multiple changes with the 2nd gen "Stock Spec" motors that makes them better in my opinion, plus they are the only LRP Brushless motor approved for ROAR racing.

So the stock spec 13.5 is better then the modified 13.5? Both show as being a sintered rotor on AE's website.

Keep the info coming guys, great to hear your comments. It sounds as if the Stock spec has been designed to meet all rules making it a legal motor for 13.5, but it is not as good as 'modified' 13.5 motors such as Novak ,SPeed passion, orion vortex etc. is this the case?

To my knowledge, LRP never published power ratings if the 1st gen X-11 13.5 Brushless motor with a Sintered Rotor since it didn't come with one, so the only way to know for sure would be back to back track comparison's.

Well I ran mine today and wow was it quick. I was a tooth smaller then the guys running 13.5 Novak motors and was easily as quick if not quicker in top end and acceleration. Took TQ and the win in our 1/12th class with the motor against a few 13.5 Novaks and a bunch of 19T brushed motors. Just an FYI the reccomended gearing for me was conservative to the extreme...I think the reccomended for 4 cell 1/12th was around a 56mm roll out and I ended up running just shy of a 65mm roll out.

i have to agree with InspGadgt, I ran kn7671's 17.5 saturday in 1/12 and had to gear one tooth down from the novak 17.5 with a 80mm roll out it was a little warm(170) and slow out of the corners. I went down one tooth to a 78.1mm roll out and the thing had plenty of rip and was just as fast. at the begging of the race, the car had a little too much rip out of the corners, I had to roll on the throttle a little more then with the novak, but going up to 80mm rollout, it was a little slow out of the corners. so the motor maybe a little more sensative to heat then the novak.

I have a 13.5 but the thing seems to clog up when the throttle is applied. I through in my 17.5 and that motor goes good. I put the 13.5 in and it doesn't want to go. Is there something I can try or is the motor shagged. I have even changed sintered rotors and it does the same thing.

Double check your timimg. The ring may have lossened up and is now retarded. This will cause the motor to feel like it is clogging. Just a popssibilitiy

2. make sure the sensor harness is not damaged/and it plugged in all the way
3. make sure youre solder connections are good
just some suggestions
