anything that is 5 port or more that is matched to the jp-2 pipe will seem like it is a rocket. i am using an RB S5 engine with a jp-1 pipe, and i still has plenty of top end. just use various clutch bells to get the desired top end.

Hey all, my family celebrates Christmas on Christmas eve and much to my surprise, I found a X1CR under the tree! I'm definitely looking forward to putting together here soon, however it is still a long ways away from spring time to start racing it. Anyways, since this was a recent purchase, I'm curious if the newer updated shocks are included? Was that a rolling change with the kit? If not, is there some sort of deal with OFNA where they will replace the shocks? I have no real idea since I get a lot of 'hear say' information from a variety of different racers. One of the things I've heard is this 'running change' with the shocks or replacements from OFNA. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Looks like I'll be hanging out in this thread a bit more often now getting tips and tricks from all of you that have been running the buggy for some time now.

Chances are that you have the X1 CR Pro and not the team version. The team version comes with a lot more than just the shocks. Read a few post up. The upper level hobby shops were just starting to get them in at the first of this week. If that is the case I would think you would be able to return it. But I think you will have to pay the differance for sure. A lot of the hobby shops had them on sale in anticapation of the team version coming in. Since you stated you really can't race it until this spring it would be worth looking into for sure. That was a nice gift none the less, I never get and RC stuff for X-mas.

Marry Christmas!

Damn. I was affraid of that answer! Even though I can't race til spring doesn't mean I can't wait to tear into the box and start building it! Thanks for the info though. My parents got it through ace hardware hobby, not my lhs. If Ace gets the new kits in, I'd hope they accept returns because I'd like to get it.... I'm not sure of their policy.
So I'm guessing the new shocks don't come with the original kit? No rolling change? That's all I'm really curious about. I don't need the other new hopups with newest team kit.

Ace was one of the hobby shops I was thinking of that got some of the early kits. But it would have been last week I think. Call there and talk to JR I am sure he could tell ya.

Thanks for the info. I'm guessing it was pre-special-order only? It isn't listed on their site as a kit to purchase. Does anyone have any pictures or some place to go on the internet for more info? I'm not sure if I can hold out much longer and not open up this new kit to start building....

macnkitty2002 Its my understanding that the new team kit will be more but only about 40-50 bucks. With the option parts they added it is well worth the money.

All,

Nitrohouse has the new Jammin Pro buggy. It is P/N 34959 and is $549.95. I must have been a good boy this year because Mrs. Claus has one on the way for me. I spoke to the good folks at Nitrohouse and they said the upgrades are:

1. one piece motor mount
2. screw pins
3. big bore shocks
4. 5MM schock towers
5. red springs

Not a bad amount of upgrades for about $50. I hope i didn't miss anything. I'll post my impressions when I get the kit on Friday.

Default Durability

How durable do you all see the X1s at your local tracks? As in the driveshafts snapping in a non-contact hit. Would like to try the team kit but dont want to be buying a bunch of parts for non-contact breakage. Does a {3192} Crowd pleaser 2.0 X5 fit the jammin buggy with not a lot of hacking on the body? thanks

rcmike,

I ran a jammin pro all last year and broke one front cv in an encounter with a pit wall at the top end of a 120' straight away. Also lost in that encounter was an A-arm, king pin, hinge pin and a shock shaft. Other than that one incident I broke a stone guard all year. I have also built and raced a SP2 and a ProSpec and can say that I felt the quality of parts was higher in the Mugen kit, followed by the Jammin then the SP2. That is just my perception without any scientific basis. A Crowd Pleazer 2.0 for a MBX 5 fits very well with minimal trimming. However, I just heard that they make a CP specifically for the Jammin buggy now. If you decide to go for something else, I felt that the ProSpec was a VERY stable buggy but it didn't turn nearly as hard as the Jammin or the SP2. They did come out with new set of lower arms and pivot blocks that are supposed to help that. Now for a shameless plug, I have a Prospec with 3/4 of a gallon on the chassis for sale (so little use because I liked my jammin better) with a few spares and 2 nice bodies for $400.

rccars4scott, did they mention anything about aluminum suspension blocks for the front? that is the first and only thing that broke on my buggy.

macnkitty,

They did not mention it. I was almost hoping to break one on my jammin so i would have a good reason to replace with aluminum, but never did. lol. I will post back on Friday if they are in the kit.

Are you sure on the one piece engine mount? Here is a picture of the box

* New Big Bore shocks
* 5mm CNC shock towers
* Captured hinge pins
* Fiber brake disks
* CNC lower front B block

It is the same box as the pro kit. It just has a team sticker on it.
