I just bought all nice stuff to go racing and i have a 5 port .21 go tech motor never started yet, waiting for warmer weather so i can tune it, i noticed it has tone of compression afraid my starter box will not turn the fly wheel is there n e tips or trick some can share with me i dont want to mess the motor up. just lookin for some thing that will maybe make my life easier when i start it thanks a lot

- Make sure your starter box is fully charged
- Use the extra head shim that should have been included in the box for the first gallon or so
- Pre-heat the engine to above 200* with a heat gun before starting
- Once it does start keep the temps above 200* (wrap the head with foil to keep the heat in if you must)

I'm sure others will chime in. These are just the first few things that came to mind. Good luck. These things are tight, but you won't be disappointed.

Loosen the glow plug a bit, make sure the piston isn't at TDC.

When you fuel the car blow into the pressure line on the pipe to get fuel right up to the motor. Heat the motor to 200 deg. with a heat gun and try it. If it wont turn it over loosen the plug just a tad. Also use a hot plug, for turbo plugs try a Odonnel 97t or Os p3. I tried a cooler plug and I had to run it leaner to get it to idle.

Definately use the extra head shim. I connected my starter box to my car's battery and I used a lot of After-Run oil. I put a lot of oil in the glow-plug hole and carb. Loosen the glow plug a little and wrap the engine head with aluminum foil. Blow into the pressure line to get fuel to the carb and use a heat gun to get the engine temps over 200 degrees F then give the engine a bump on the starter box. Good Luck. Once you get it going you will not be disappointed.

a head shim is a little copper ring, kinda like a head gasket for a car.
It goes between the engine block and the head button where the glow plug is.

I think if you are new to nitro I would not take the head off and add a shim. Although it is very simple a inexperienced person could do more harm than good.

As far as after run oil it depends on the fuel you run, with some fuels you don't need after run. Always be very careful not to get dirt in a motor anytime you take off the filter or take the plug out.

I use Byrons 30% fuel. The reason I used after run oil before starting was because the piston would get stuck when I would try to start it on the box. I used a heat gun and I got the temps to over 250 degrees and the piston would still get stuck. The extra oil helps get the engine to turn over once you have heated the engine head with a heat gun.

heat gun is a must. if you don't have a way to heat it up to at least 200. let your local hobby store break it in for you. Also use fuel (monster 30%) thats has an high oil content (at least 12%). And last Take you time.10 tanks takes time.
