On Road Nationals Florida October
I signed up for the masters class cause I am old and have in laws in the state.
I thought it would be fun to compete in a national event. I am now a little worried that some of the other racers are going to be getting on my case for being so slow and getting in there way. This is only my second year and I am lucky to b on lap 15 when the A-Main winner is on lap 19.

I wouldn't worry too much about it... just try to concentrate on running your own race... and if someone comes up behind you in qualifying, be sure to give them ample room/time to get by

Thanks
Thanks, I will try that.
A quick driving question.
I think one of my problems is that; I approach the turn a bit to fast and then have to slow down to avoid over shooting; which means I am doing "in fast, out slow" instead of "in slow, out fast" Would programming some drag brake into my ESC be the answer to this problem?
Is the stock setup, in the XXX-S G+ instruction manual, a good starting point for the average driver. I have been told most of the setup sheets on the Losi site are really for the pro driver and may not be best for the average driver. I do have a copy of that little book on setting up a touring car and what all the adjustments are supposed to do, plus a lot of setup articles clipped from the magazines.
(I have an XXX-SG+, digital servo, programmable ESC, Computer Style Radio and run only in stock class on asphalt)

Jonah,
Most people would say that stock motors already have alot of built-in drag brake due to their bushings, high timing, and laydown brushes.
I would recommend trying to just slow down while going around the track and then start to gradually build up your speed... trying to approach the limits of your car setting/driving from below instead of trying to just luck out and settle on them from above...

Jonah,
When you practice at a track try to think about when/where before any given corner you need to let off the trigger to let you car slow down enough to make a proper corner entry. Every Mod racer I have ever talked to about this has said the same thing...you have to slow down to go fast. It takes a lot of discipline to do this during races but this is key to becoming a faster racer.
Also, concentrate on lifting the throttle and rolling on the throttle. You want to squeeze the trigger not snap it back. Think about how long it takes to say the word "one" at a normal speaking cadence...thats how long it should usually take for you to pull the trigger from neutral to full throttle. Just after you clear the apex of a corner say the word "one" while pulling the trigger so you are at full throttle as you finish saying it. It sounds silly but it works....especially in open mod with a 7x1...lol!
