Tacon 3200kv w/HW 60amp ESC gearing
I have a 2wd Slash (brushed) and I'm going to be installing the Tacon 3200kv BL motor with a Hobbywing Ez Run 60amp ESC. I'll be running a 2S Lipo.
I've been reading that I should lower the gearing to keep from overheating. However, I haven't been able to find an exact gearing ratio I should run. This will mostly be for bashing and a possible race every now and then. I also heard with a 2S battery I shouldn't overheat. I think just lowering the pinion gear from 19t to 17t might help.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Actually, you go up a tooth or two with a brushless motor from the brushed setup gearing. That will put you in the ballpark and then tune it from there. Keep the fan on your HW 60 and it will do just fine !

thanks but can you explain why i need to go up if im trying to keep it cooler?

Brushless motors tend to have more torque than a brushed motor. Therefore you can get away with going up on the pinion. Just try running the stock gearing and keep checking your temp on motor every couple minutes to make sure it's not getting hot. Then just go up from there if needed. Although If you are under geared it will cause motor to run hot also. Depends on where and how you drive it. Small tracks smaller pinion. Large track or just Speed runs larger pinion. Just experiment with different gering to suit your driving style.

my current pinion is 19t. would going up to 23t be to high?

I used to run 21/86 when I had that motor in a slash.
