i have to admit, the price is staggering at first but knowing how nice kyosho stuff is, i'm surprisingly okay with it. I have tried other brands only to be disappointed in plastic quality, metal quality, even the coating on shock shafts rubbing off, parts being just as expensive as kyosho parts, etc.
I'm sure this thing will be rock solid out of the box and the body is already the same style as what everyone is currently running.
Lastly, lets be honest here..... THE T PLATE IS GONE and the aluminum extends to further support the front bulk head!!!! that alone will save you a few bucks!
I'm getting one for sure, even at $450.

It's inevitable it would be more expensive. New car. New molds R&D costs etc. I'm excited I should have mine the day it is released.
Plus I save more than that in parts that never break. I've had my current car since the SP was released and just changed to updated parts. Rarely broke them
I hope the rear hubs work on the new car though.

IMHO the 1/8 ebuggy/nitro rollers are a loss leader for most manufacturers excluding Kyosho. Take for eg xray, quality on par with K cars (shocks not so much), but parts cost are the same as kyosho maybe a bit more. Durango tried to push their 1/8 to K car price but failed and now its back to 500ish but their parts are dirt cheap cos they are not on par with serpent kyosho and xray.
Plus people go through a couple of chassis in nitro at least so cost wise I do not think 1/10 electric is even close to 1/8 buggy. I think we might see price hover around 400 eventually though, I am buying it nonetheless.

Pricing
Regarding pricing: this should not surprise anyone. Kyosho's quality is far better than any other kit I've ever built. You get what you pay for. All of Kyosho's race kits are manufactured in Japan - everyone else builds in China. That results in higher production costs but higher quality parts.
Kyosho's race kits are premium kits. Are they worth the added price? That's impossible to answer definitively or without bias. I'll give you my experience: I've run Kyosho stuff for the last two years and I almost never break parts. I can't even remember the last time I broke anything on my RB5. I built a B4.1 WC to try out and see what all the fuss was about (plus I collect 2wd buggies to sit on the shelf). No exaggeration: I broke something on the B4.1 during each of the first three battery packs I ran through it (it drove extremely well, btw). Two front arms, front tower, rear U brace, and a turnbuckle. Now, replacing those parts was a lot cheaper than replacing parts on an RB5 - but I NEVER have to do that. So... YMMV
So it's up to you. There are great reasons to buy a premium quality kit at a premium price, there are great reasons to buy a lower priced kit that still races incredibly well. But don't throw a fit because a kit that has far higher build quality and is manufactured in Japan is more expensive than stuff made in China. Just buy what suits you best.
