Equalizing a pack takes all the cells in the pack down to the same voltage so that when you charge the pack they all take in the same amount of charge and peak around the same time(if the pack is matched). I'd say buy 3 or 4 matched gp3300 packs, they don't have to be great numbers, 1.15v 390 sec will work fine for stock untill your driving skill grows. You can get them for $30 a pack.

http://www.kinetixrc.com/

Yep 6 cells.

edit - If you'd rather not build your own packs you can buy them ready built from http://www.promatchracing.com/

Both promatched and kinetix have great packs.

id much rather build my own packs for some odd reason. Should i put the cells on the equalizing tray before my first charge (and before i build the pack of course)? or is it after charges and uses.

If you want to. In general most people just equalize before charging and at the end of a race day.

If you equalize before charging your pack will take a better charge. I doubt equalizing before building the pack will have much if any effect.

Also the deans battery jig is worth it's weight in gold when building a pack, makes the job much much easier then without it.
