Quick question, building my buggy and have a lot of in/out free play in the topshaft. So much so when I push in towards the trans it feels like the back slipper plate is rubbing because I can feel it get "tight" once every revolution or so. Building with the associated alum top shaft, factory team bearing kit and v2 slipper plates. Anyone have any ideas? I double checked the manual and it does not appear I am missing any spacers or anything...anyone have to shim their topshaft?

Got it thanks!
Cooling mod
Here is a mod I thought I would share. It's a 25mm muchmore fan with a traxxas suspension pin screwed into the fan, with a scrap piece of lexan used as a pinch bracket. It has brought my motor temps down 40 degrees from 190 to 150.

saw this ins the r1 works thread. interesting fan mount
So far I used the Jconcepts Silencer and Proline phantom and they fit without cutting out the body with ample room for the fan to operate. Sweep Racing muzzle body requires just a tiny bit of cutting. The sweep body fits the 10g thrust fan perfectly on the waterfall and has a scribed area on the body where you can cut out for fresh air flow.
I am really happy with this fan setup. I am coming off around 10-15* hotter then my 10gram thrust fan mounted on waterfall but motor is still well within safe operating temps. What's great about this setup is that you can use the battery brace and it only takes 1 screw to remove the mount.

Anybody have any feedback on the gear diff for this buggy?

Ya know what's really nice? Having a motor that is as fast as any, and on a 100 degree day, it will come off at about 145 degrees after running the battery down to the cut off. But, I am ONLY referring to 17.5 though...not modified of course. I even like some of of fan mods I have seen too, but I would like to hope the guys that are running them, actually need them.

When summers are at 115 degrees F, a fan will go a long way.

ESC/Motor and Servo for Novice/Stock
Been out of the scene for awhile and picked up a B5M kit, Spektrum DX4R and now I need some input on ESC/Motor and Servo.
I was looking at LRP Flow Team w/17.5 motor and also the Tekin RS GEN2 w/17.5. Any suggestions there?
What about a servo? I was thinking SC1258TG from Savox but heard of problems with Spektrum receivers??
Thanks!

IMO, get a HW 3.1 stock spec esc and program box, then pick up a good motor. Motors are kinda flavor of the month, but I doubt anyone thinks the tekin motors are super fast. People on rcteck like tekin, but that is about where it ends. They never podium crap. For the motor the schuurspeed or reedy are good 17.5 choices. The trinity d4 is getting mixed reviews. I will skip all of the science behind it, but the math on the d4 is not great. Use more mah than others and lower bottom end. This is from dyno testing. Lots of locals use the turnigy red can 17.5 with good result. Good power and runs cool.
