Good to hear you had a good first night with the S1. I think you will find that the R1 will be better suited to the indoor track. Did you get the alum bodied shocks as a replacement for the plastic standard ones apparently they are more durable and less prone to leaking. Looking forward to getting on track with another S1. PM me if you are up for a go of a 10.5T S1 (I'll give you my number) and I can usually get down to the track as I live only 5 minutes away.

My car is an R1 not S1 (not 100% sure of the differences), I've ordered the R1 shocks (not sure but I think they're aluminium) for it. I've fitted the other shocks (X-Tech I think) to the rear of the car, got some cheap shocks from HobbyCo today & raped them for the spring retainers, on the road out front, the car seems to handle pretty good, just lifts the inside rear tyre on power off/brake turns, which makes me think I'm not too far off having it set up.

I'm going to run with the 13.5T for a while in this car (the championships seem to be 13.5 class, so that gives me a good background running it), Rob gave me a 10.5 & I have a new one coming for the Pro chassis that's coming, I'm committed to run SpecR for atleast the next 2 years, but I am looking at a 1/12th pan car that Jeff was trying to work a package deal with the distributors, 1/12th RWD pan car with a 540 (I think 10.5T) motor, on carpet will be 'interesting'

Wal. S1 is the plastic Sports model that you have been using.
R1 is the carbon fibre Racing (Pro) model. Actually the pro is the upgraded version of the R1 kit that has half a dozen changes, I can't think of then=m off the top of my head (I am sure it is written in an earlier post)

I may look at getting into the 1/12th pan cars as well some time next year, as soon as I can find a good car on a budget.

Check the overall shock length vs. kit shocks. If the shocks you put on are shorter, they may be limiting droop, causing the inside rear wheel lift under braking.

Mine is a CF R1 (Picture 1), the new one (which arrived today) is the new R1 Pro (Picture 2).

For some reason Wal I thought you had an S1 as well. Sorry my bad looks good though nice bright green. That won't get lost in the background or against the sea of Orange cars at Brendale. Also new kit today woohoo. Still 2 days til I can crack into mine.

No stress mate, guess when everybody has been using S1's, it's a fair assumption that a new car will be one too.

The 'kermit' green does stand out among the orange cars, someone did comment from the drivers stand if I could pick it out against the grass at night, I didn't have too many issues, see what happens on the 3rd with the faster engine, the bashed up body I got with the car originally, I put some silver stripes across the roof, I may do that with all the bodies in future, paint the roof a totally different colour.

Hey guys, what spur and pinion should I use to get a final drive ratio in the 3.5 to 3.8 range using 64 pitch gears?

I run a 90T spur and a 48T pinion in Canadian VTA with a 21.5 motor to give me an FDR of 3.56
