MMP just getting better
Set up from last Maritime Touring car carpet wars UK.
Running 10.5 Novak ss
RPM cheat 6,200 to 10,600
Timing 50
Drag 30%
FDR 8.6
Had a higher start rpm because FDR was 8.6 which on Novak 10.5 ss motor seems to work better at this FDR. Speedo worked really well and was just has fast as some of the top of the range (price) Speedo’s. When the grip came up started to add + on start of the throttle curve (which some one suggested on this forum) this Speedo just gets better. Ran without fan and Speedo still running cool in 10.5 TC. Still trying to find the right rpm range for different motors and tracks but think we are getting there. This week will have three of us running MMP Speedo’s at Maritime. One of us who is a really good driver (not me) and makes the A finales which is really hard at Maritime with the standard of drivers. Won’t be long before we find the right settings for this Speedo.
One more thing, people keep saying how big this Speedo is, well compared to new GM Speedo its small. So far the best Speedo I have ever used and just getting better .

No those times were all produced with a Novak Havok 2s controller(not even the Havok Pro.
To be fair Davin did run some very very fast laps with his MM this last weekend he had some great laps and some bad luck to cost him the win.
Tekin will be going in this week and I will post times on Saturday.

Ok good. I am still on the fence about how great this timing thing is. I know that with some adjustment you can find the sweet spot and make the motor work like a 13.5, but I am more interested in getting there with a different approach. Most I know running the tekins and mambas are almost completely maxed out on timing advance. Which I think is overkill. And just to maintain the same temps they have to gear way down. I am running with no boost and not motor timing on a ballistic and trying to get as fast as I can that way first then slowly add timing on the controller to max out top speed while keeping the rip in the middle. I tried going the other way and kept getting stomped on because the car had no power due to the timing advance coming in at the wrong rpm. So I had no rip through the infield and no acceleration down the straight. When I got this close I dropped a second off my fastest lap. But still was off the pace of the rest of the cars. Homing in on the sweet spot between motor and timing advance and rpm range not easy unless you have unlimited track time to hunt down the right combination. I put as many laps as I can on the car before race day. But when you are limited on track time it just drives me insane. As I feel like I can't even focus on getting the car to handle better when it is just "slow".

We have some drivers by the club that don't need a Tekin or a Mamba to win. It's just crazy.
They drive so good that you get crazy of them.
Last year I thought that I would be faster with my speedo but also in the winter the normal SXX tc won from all the other speedo's.
That guy does the same thing with the old LRP tc or with any other speedo.

Is Castle going to sell the solder posts that come on the Mamba one Cell to the general public? If so can you PM with the info I would like to buy several sets. And if not can I send my controller in and have them added? Also can I buy a new case for the mamba pro?
thanks.

Ok im miffed. At the track tonight running some practice for tomorrow with a fellow racer. He is running the Tekin RS and Im running the MMP. I was running a 5.6 gear ratio with the timing on the motor all the way down and 50 degrees of timing on the speedo. After a 5 minute run the temp on the motor was about 140 to 150 but he was walking me real hard on the straight. his setup was 40 degrees timing and 2 degrees of turbo and the motor timing right in the middle and coming off the track his motor temp was 110. i moved my timing into the middle position and ran it again it definetly faster but the motor was at 204 when I came off after 5 mins. At this point I changed my gearing to what my buddy was running which was right around 6.7 went and ran again the car was noticably slower in the straight and still came off the track with the motor at 190 degrees. My problem is that while im changing gearing and making my car slower he's ramping up timing making his faster and cannot get his motor hotter than 120 degrees no matter what he throws at it. I guess my main question is this. I bought the motor used . If it was overheated in the past could that be causing my problem now? I don't want to buy another 100 dollar motor and have the same problem. Any ideas???
