All sensorless esc can run any brushless motor. Some will do this better than others. Too me the MM dose this better than the others, but the Quark is also very good

I have tried the Mamba Max with a Novak 5.5r and the motor didn't even spin around. It kind of twitched back and forth and that was it.

Did you try changing the motor timing @ all? Didn't know if that would help maybe.
