I give created it sportwerks, thre ARR has a nice .21 in it.
Out here they allow the bigger motors to run as long as it is what came with the kit.
After learning more about the buggy in general I am going to take a wait and see approach as I have heard of issues concerning how it performs on surfaces that are not a high traction if I recall correctly.

I bought the Turmoil RTR with the V.26 engine. It's my first 1/8 buggy. I've had a T-Maxx before that so I'm somewhat familiar with nitro's. I was surprised to see this V.26 engine keep up with the .21's at my local tracks. My problem is overshooting the corners from too much speed and not enough control YET.
I was considering the 8ight, but like many people say, the overall price would have been too high after buying electronics, motor, etc. I've seen this 8ight buggy up close and it's very impressive. I wish I would have known about Losi making an RTR version of this, I probably would have bought it instead of the Turmoil.

Well, at first, the 8ight Kit was going for $600 most places, then it dropped to $550, and a few people were braging about getting it under $500...(sponsored drivers, shop owners, and cut throats!) Even so, it's a fantastic value, top of the crop RTR radio and motor, and a race proven chassis design...can't beat it...

I did notice that the 8ight RTR has a different chassis listed for it than the 8ight kit. I wonder what is different. They still indicate it is a 4mm thick chassis though like the kit.

I have a kit 8ight and got a chance to compare it to the RTR at my LHS.
Things that where visually different on the RTR
- Shock caps
- Shock towers
- Diffs are grease fill not oil filled
- Frame is stamped aluminum, not sure what grade, unlike the machine 7075 aluminum of the kit version.
- Does not include extra springs and sways bars included with kit version.

From the looks of it the 8ight RTR is the best one on the market when you consider the gear it comes with.

I got a chance to inspect one up close yesterday and noticed that the chassis is still 4mm machined aluminum and shotpeened just not annodized like the kit version. That would explain the 20 dollar difference in the two chassis. The specs on horizon's site also say it is machined not stamped. The spec also indicate that the diffs are sealed so all that should be needed is to clean the grease out and fill with oil.

I've just helped a new friend get his 8ight RTR broken in and begin testing. The motor fired right up, and was breaking in nicely, when low and behold, the throttle servo died! I neglected to check EPA(I expected it to be preset, since the steering was right on out of the box), but I also didn't hear any buzzing evident of a problem. He bought a new steering servo, and we're swapping the Z590 to the throttle. In theory, when properly set up, it'll be fine, just like mine. Other than that, the quality, fit and finish seem to be right on par or better than any RTR I've delt with. The throttle servo that comes with it will work, but really isn't good enough. The Z590 would be the minimum I'd ever use in this car.
