Your gear diff is shimmed side to side wrong, I'm sure of it. It will have zero side to side lash with the pinion installed. Take the pinion out and you'll be able to move it. This means it's too tight, it shouldn't change when the pinion is installed.
Will it work with the side clearances wrong? Yes. Is it right? Absolutely not. Being too tight makes extra friction, and needlessly wears out the pinion prematurely.
The TB 03d spool is no problem. All the TB03 stuff has more side to side clearance for some reason.

All I'm saying is the the carbon rein and standard diff cases have about .03 different clearance. That may seem like it's nothing, and it may not be a big deal to you. Even if you get it totally wrong, it'll still work.
If you tried to pull that off in a 1:1 car, it would be insanely loud and fail prematurely. It may not be a big deal to other users, it is to me.

Just got myself a TB03. Bought the car to compete in the Dutch Tamiya Challenge. will just do the most essential upgrades...... and race with the sensorless16T BL tamiya motor(TBLM 01) and a 5.0 FDR.

Great, will see you there. I drove an almost standard TB03 last September to the second place at the Dutch/Belgium final.

Thanx...noted the suggestions Had a TA-05VERII R version great chassis but didnt like the way the car handled with IFS. So changed it to standup shocks. I will do the same with the TB-03.
Seen the car at my local club and like the handling of the car...very much.
The competed also at the Tamiya cup races en won several races if not all of them.

Make sure you get the aluminum motor adapter
The plastic one in the kit goes right in the bin.
For those that can order from TamiyaUSA, they still list the alum motor mount at $18. Not a necessity, but a good price to pair with the lower adapter.

What is wrong with the kit motor mount. Although it is not machined it's still metal.

When I paired the two aluminum pieces, everything tightened up and getting a good mesh is no longer an issue. I figured the cost of the mount from TamiyaUSA was worth the reduced risk of the motor moving in a crash and shredding a not simple to replace spur.
