R/C Racing in Omaha
My 13 and 11 year olds are just getting into R/C cars. One has a Traxxas Slash and the other a bandit. We live at the west edge of Omaha and looking for good places to race their trucks out here. The track at Hobby Town is great but sometimes we don't have time to drive all the way up there or they are having races so looking for good place out west for them to learn. Tried baseball fields at elementary school but with all the product they put on them it's like gravel and they spin out all the time.
Also curious if there are any R/C clubs or events in Omaha where they could learn more about the sport.

Maybe get a couple of parking/soccer cones and head out to a open parking lot on the weekends or after hours? More traction so easier to drive and you could make you're own simple track for them?

You and your kids are welcome to try Plexspec racing at the Hobbyplex every Friday night at 7pm and Saturdays at 2:30. New people of all ages is what we have it for. The best way to learn in this hobby is by doing.

I'm going to be in Omaha this weekend and planning to bring my 1/10 2wd and 4wd buggies
What i see on hobbyplex website is Saturday doors open at 10am racing starts at 5pm
What I'm wondering is how is racer turn out and what are best classes to run?
Any info would be great

1/10th Stock 2WD is typically the biggest class. But i'm sure you could run stock or mod 2wd/4wd and there should be turnout to run whatever you want.
Heat this weekend (heat advisory with heat indexes >110) might impact turnout.

And thanks for the reply

AC in the pits and they have fans on the driver stands so it's usually not too bad but it's still usually pretty hot in the track itself.
