Team Associated RC8B upgrades v/s 8.2 HELP???
I am going back and forth back and forth on this:
1) upgrading a RC8B roller with a lot of spares I just picked up off of RCTech for $270
or
2) buying the new RC8.2 $520 @ Amain
I am leaning toward just upgrading the roller I just got with the following parts:

RPM arms arent going to work with the new AE towers.

The RPM arms have built in shock risers. The new towers are built to utilize the new style arms that mount the lower shock in the arms themselves.
I am curious about the center shafts though. Right now I am waiting on the new suspension upgrades that I ordered to show up (arms, towers, b-plate, etc.). I plan to purchase the longer chassis as well, but I don't know if anything else is needed to go along with it.

well here is the part where I think is deceiving/confusing. there is the RC8 then the RC8B and then the RC8.2. I know there is a lot of changes between when the thing came out, just keeping this generally basic to make a point. Side by side, they are much different....
Now I am leaning toward just getting the RC8.2

are you saying the RPM arms wont work with the "upgraded" RC8B towers? Because it says right in the description it does? Or did they mean the original RC8B towers? They should have maybe named the upgraded towers RC8B-1 towers. But anyway. What to do, what to do.......

The reason for the different shock towers on the 8.2 is to lower the shocks so we can use the normal shock ends instead of making longer ones or using them from a different manufacturer.
The RPM arms will not work with the associated upgrade towers. Like someone else said, the shock risers are built in on top of the arm.
At this point, in my opinion, wait for the new car so you'll have a fresh kit with EVERYTHING. Not many distributors, if any at all, have the upgrade kits in stock. By the time you get everything, the new car will be out.
Try checking out the 8.2 thread and the RC8B thread for more info on this. You'll find all you're looking for in there.

I was kicking this dilema around a bit myself. I got the rc8be this spring and was trying to decide to upgrade or buy the new kit. My decision was to upgrade. The reason being it would be really hard to sell the old stuff after the new stuff is released or even announced so I would be stuck with a basically worthless roller. Im going to upgrade it now with the upgrade kit, new b plate, new rear sway bar setup, and a +3mm BCE e-buggy chassis. Then when the parts for the 8.2 hit the shelves I will probably upgrade again. This way I wont end up selling a perfectly good car for next to nothing or being stuck with an outdated car I have no use for after buying the new car.
Yes its a little frustrating how they changed the towers twice but the only reason to do that was to get the shocks to work properly without longer shock ends. The geometry should be the same and the handling ought to be close enough that few would be able to notice.

There is a +3 shaft HERE
The 3mm shaft is not even available to the public yet. None of the RC8.2 parts are available yet. So, I will make a further assumption that the chassis: Team Associated RC8B +3mm Chassis (Black) [ASC89476] is different than the chassis that will come with the new RC8.2 kit. Or something is different to make the 3mm shaft work.
More $$$ for somebody...
