no sweat. some guys have told me they use solder since it is so soft, but i don't want to risk binding anything in the engine by using solder.
i guess the advantage of using solder is that you can bend the solder into a "L" shape, and stick it in the plug hole without taking the head off.
i'll take the extra 5 minutes to remove the head twice and use the clay. i'll usually remove the sleeve afterwards to ensure no clay got stuck in any ports.

I would say the new .12 Novarossi will be hit on street during June and the price is like $270. Some have poxyed shaft included.

Quick Question,
I just became the owner of a NSR12S5. Since it was used, I took it apart, chcked everything out, lubed it with after run oil and put it back together. What should be the starting needle positions on this engine? I have no idea how it was tuned and don't want to take a chance. Also, would a hot turbo plug be recommended with this engine?

Info on NSR12S5 head clearance...
Hi guys, could use some help here as I haven't got any tools available with me right now. Can anyone give me the head clearance measurement for the NSR12S5 with the stock silver shim? TIA!

0.50mm........
you can go with a 0.10mm shim for 16 and 20% nitro......and two 0.10mm shims for 30% nitro.......
the original shim doesn't make the engine consistent.....

You never know what your real head clearance is unless you check it. Do not just assume 0.3mm shim will do the job. Check your clearance at least once. You can calculate your clearance from there if you keep track of your shims at any given time.
