In Finland we have pretty good Mini-scene. Because of our rules, we drive almost stock cars, which keeps racing inexpensive and even.

On Sunday I was entered in a 1000 lap Mini enduro held at Fastcats (fastcats.ca). It was the second year for this event. We entered our 4 person team with the only SWB Mini out of 13 entries and had high hopes after a close 5th place finish last year, but it didn't go so well. We ended up 9th, but we were still running at the finish, after having all sorts of problems like losing an upper link screw (and then the outdrive came out), loose servo screws, dead ESC, wheel coming off, etc... We came back from every problem though and finished the race 271 laps down from the leader. The top two cars were seperated by 3.377 seconds after 1000 laps (6 hours, 24 minutes with a mandatory stop at the 500 lap mark). We had a good time, but the poor Mini is in rough shape. I learned a few more things that would have made the car more durable, like a one-way is murder on the front end after 729 laps Just like after last years event, I'm looking forward to next year

It's a 92'x48' track. The motors were a hand out silver can and we were not allowed to change them. It's a great event and I hope they have it again next year. No air cooling was allowed with the motors either. We had a heat sink from a TC4 modified to fit the end of the can with a fan on it. We ripped that out quickly and didn't have any motor problems. the motor came off the track at around 90 to 100 deg. F, depending on where you took the temp (used two different temp guns too).

need your opinion, you did mention that HB ezrun esc + 13t motor work best on a M03, i totally agree, recently due to our local race ruling, best is we use 11.5t bl motor(SP, or other brand.) i got myself a SP 11.5t, i notice its speed not so much different with 13t,
but 11.5t motor looks so more hi tech compare to a HB 13t motor. why is it slower that a 13t?
or is it i did anything wrong you can think off?

Greg's on the money there, it's all about gearing. I bet you went with the 20t, right? I suggest it's probably the wrong choice...
You gotta remember too, the HW 13T is a 380 size motor (not a 540) so direct comparisons are difficult to make.

For a 11.5 motor to work you need to fit a larger pinion than what is available on the mini. The limited gearing available by using the 16,18 or 20 will not let the motor rev out harder.
A brushed 27 Turn motor or any of the colt motors will be faster.

Not sure what speedie you would be using with your 11.5 SP motor, but if you increase your timing that will give you more RPM at the expense of torque.
Can you run the HW system and/or the 11.5? I know I would stick to the cheaper option of using the HW. Seems a more expensive way of running mini.

I'm currently running a sport-tuned motor in the mini class at my club, and doing reasonably well, I usually finish 2nd overall, and the guy to beat is using an ezrun 3000kv system (and is a very good driver 
).
The class allows standard silver can, sport-tuned, 17.5 brushless, or Ezrun 3000kv. I'm thinking about getting an ezrun system to try and get a bit more performance from the car, but is it worth considering a 17.5 brushless system instead? The 17.5 would be sensored compared to the ezrun sensorless system, so may provide smoother control, but the 17.5 motors I'v looked at (Novak, Tekin, Nosram) seem to have a lower Kv rating, around 2200-2300 at most. But then again, the 17.5 is a 540 size motor, so may have more torque than the 380 (internal) size ezrun motor.
Of course, I could just get an ESC that can run all types of motor (brushed/sensorless brushless/sensored brushless) and try both a 17.5 sensored and a 3000kv sensorless motor, but that's not gonna be cheap...
