6 and 8 poles 1/8 buggy motors
Hello,
just discovered Tenshock brand with their 6 poles motors.
What does it change compared to a standard 4 pole motor?
Are there other brands making motors with more poles? Thanks

90% of 1/8 e racers can't tell the difference between a wye/delta wound motor, much less a 4/6/8/10 pole motor...

Tenshock isn't more expensive than Tekin .
Not noticing the difference doesn't mean the car desn't run more efficient on the track . Is there a difference of range between 4 ou 6 poles motor? What is the plus of running a 6 poles motor then? When is the torque delivered?

Should be able to run a wider range of gearing + higher efficiency, yea?

So you gain torque and loose rpm when you go up in poles, ok. Now is a 6 poles smoother than a 4 poles running the same kv?
I drive 1/10 and try to look for a setup in 1/8 that would be simiilar in smoothness (lol). It will never be the same but you know what I mean

Ok then I prefer the smoother feeling . Would it be possible to have a 6 poles motor that is as smooth as a 4 pole by just changing the pinion? Or should I go down in kv?
Sorry for all the questions but it's kind of hard to find these answers on the web.

I had a RX8 and T8 1400kv motor on 6S but was just a little bit not smooth enough for me . I love the feeling of 1/10 motors since I switched from the 1/8. This is one of the main reason with the fast corner speed why I moved to 1/10 (I have more pleasure to drive it). Still I love the scale in 1/8 so I try to figure out how to make them smoother feeling/ lighter/ faster in the corners. I almost got there with a lightened 808 on MMP and SC4X 550 motor but it just wasn't powerful enough for bigger tracks (I ran it indoor)

You're comparing many more factors than just the motor between 1/8 and 1/10. The 1/8 car is 2.5x heavier. To power it adequately smoothness will drop down the list of attributes. A 1/10 car is practically weightless under it's power by comparison, ie. the power system is far less stressed.
