1800kv enough?? rc8.2e
I just got my new hobbywing 150amp 1800kv combo. Long story short. I bought it for my truvgy. Got a dud had to send it back and bought a 2000kv tekin for my truggy. Now i got a new combo back from.hobbywing.
Thought abput putting it in my rc8.2e it has stock rtr electronics but ive upgraded everything else to FT kit.but is 1800kv enough. The track we run on is about medium size with some big jumps. Also ill be runni.g nothing but 4s.
The stock motor is a 2000kv and its geared 17/46
One more question is it a good idea to run a external bec i heard hobbywing esc not real good bec.i have a brand new 10amp castle bec i can put in as well.

yes, 1800kv is plenty on 4s. I run 1700kv and I've never lost to someone else's motor.

What gearing should I use

I just went from Castle 2650 to a Trackstar 1900 motor and 1900 is way smoother. This is in a Tekno D8. The 2650 just was to much motor, especially on 4s. With the 1900 on 4s it still has lots of top speed and power band is a lot smoother. I started to run my 2650 on 3s but was having heat issues with esc. As for gearing, try that 17 out. Just check your temps like every minute to make sure nothing is getting hot.

I have never had a problem with the BEC and I have ran several super torque servos on a Spektrum radio system without issue ....
